01 yukon heater core leak?

Sorry if this has been covered I didn't have any luck Googling it.. I have put a new radiator, water pump, intake gasket and thermostat in and it has done good for a month.. now there is a STRONG antifreeze smell coming from the vents and there is a steady dribble coming from a little hose between the AC dryer and firewall.. The inside carpet is dry.. do I have a bad heater core? Thanks!

the male nipple on the inlet to my heater core gave out last week..
i have a 2001 tahoe..
before it gave out.....small drops of coolant would leak out from that same area..
that small plastic part where the hose is connected to ya is about $12 at autozone.
its best to check to see if that part is cracked.
pull the hose from it...depending on the yr of ur truck..i suggest u change it.

If the heater is putting out good heat, you know it's not plugged up. but it can still leak and drain out the hose on the firewall. If your carpet is dry then the drain is doing it's job. Like robb said above, check all the hose's going into the heater box. You could just get lucky. if not then a heater core is in order. I have a 01 Denali, and all is good so far at 130k

it quit heating nearly all together and had a distinct antifreeze smell.. it did wind up being the heater core and because I HAD to have it fixed immeadiatly it cost me 600$:/.. is there a way to change it without taking the dash out?

nope, you have to take the dash apart. The heater core is inside a casing that includes all the components for the A/C. It is a pain in the a@#!! I did it myself and took about 2 days from start to finish. If u have the time to spare, I would suggest doing it yourself but just keep track of all the bolts, nuts and screws that u have to take out...Good luck!!
