    2000 Tahoe..Timing Chain Slack

How much slack is acceptable in the timing chain. This seems a little sloppy to me. But I'm not sure waht is normal. 2000 Limited, 205K miles. Was going to try and upload a video, but it won't let me. Maybe there is an amount of slack that is acceptable. I seem to have about half an inch...

    Warm ac at idle?

That could definitely be what it is. But, if extended idle, mine gets warm too. The belt driven fan isn't the most efficient for the AC system. And I think the older system design isn't as efficient. Newer cars have an overall better system. I have one of these, just need to wire it up...

    Oil Pressure Sensor?

The Doorman one is. I'll snap a pic when it comes off. This one is going on.

    Oil Pressure Sensor?

Yep, it has a doorman plastic cover on there. I also read that those can be problematic. So shiny aluminum it is now. Also doing the CPS, mainly for the new seal. Hopefully I can get this all sealed up and be good for a while.

    Oil Pressure Sensor?

Concur, I have used them in many applications. The one I took off was leaking at the front, and there was RTV there. I researched this a bunch, and Felpro recommends no RTV. I installed a new one with no RTV and it still leaked. I believe the felpro gasket is silicone, but I can't confirm...

    Oil Pressure Sensor?

Already draining the coolant for the timing chain cover and the water pump. So not a concern there.

    Oil Pressure Sensor?

OEM AC Delco. I could not get the felpro to seal. I think the RTV doesnt adhere to well. The AC Delco seems to be a more conventional rubber where as I think the felpro was silicone. I want to stop painting my driveway ha ha

    Oil Pressure Sensor?

Ah, a knock sensor. My photo is taken with the starter removed. So the knock sensor is in the coolant too? Well I ordered the level sensor today. May need to return that then. Truck has 206k on it. Doing the pan gasket, second one that wouldnt seal at the front. Also putting on an...

    Oil Pressure Sensor?

I'm doing the oil pan gasket on my 2000 Tahoe Limited. On the passenger side of the engine, just above the pan, there is a sensor that also appears to be leaking. Is that the Pressure switch. My googling found people replacing an oil pressure switch on the top of the engine. But, maybe my...

    Oil Pan Gasket Leak

The last one had RTV and leaked. Also a Felpro gasket. This time I did it without as the FelPro said none is needed and the rtv may not stick. Which is what I thought was the problem with the first. I'm going to use the AC Delco gasket with black rtv now. Found some other posts about people...

    Oil Pan Gasket Leak

Got it Rocket. Said I'm dropping it and adding RTV. Don't need to continue to beat the dead horse.

    Oil Pan Gasket Leak

Got the AC Delco gasket today and the aluminum Holley front cover. Will start pulling apart again tomorrow. The gasket is all one price though. The corners is where some put RTV. Gasket said not to. So i didnt. Probably should have listened to my instinct added it for belt and...

    Oil Pan Gasket Leak

I dropped the pan on Wed morning. It sat until Thursday afternoon. Cleaned both block and pan surfaces with brake cleaner and cloth. Made sure no oil was present. I'll agree on Felpro gaskets, in general, I've used them quite a bit and they are always good quality. I can see it...

    Oil Pan Gasket Leak

Thanks for the reply. The holes were not peened out. The oil pan has some steel bars that clamp the pan to the gasket. I would say that are .125 thick or so. So the bolts don't directly touch the pan itself. There is another member in the joint. This gasket said additional sealant want...

    Oil Pan Gasket Leak

Hey all, I have a 2000 Tahoe Limited, right around 205k on it. Runs and drives great, but has had an oil leak for the last 50k miles. Started when I had to replace the front main, in which case I did the whole cover with the seal. Put in a new Felpro gasket at that time, and has been leaking...

    Oil Pump Replacement

My 2000 Limited has 201k miles. Runs and drives great, but has an oil leak from the oil pan gasket. I'm planning to drop the pan and replace the gasket soon. And I've been reading that the oil pump should be replaced. When I look at rock auto or some of the other parts sites there are a...

    Radio Install Question

Did some googling, looks like there is a small amp that just needs to be wired to power on. So will go that route. My truck doesn't have tweeters in the A-pillar. They are in the door, by the window switch. I'm pretty happy with what I put in. I think I have read you can get 6x9's into the...

    Radio Install Question

Well, I guess 8 then. I put components in the front doors, they sound great. The rear doors also have speakers and then there are speakers in the way back in the headliner. So I'm not sure how the rears are set up. Time to pull up the wiring schematic.

    Radio Install Question

For those that have done the after market stereo install, do all 6 speakers still work with a 4 channel head unit? Or did you install a separate amplifier?

    Still Looks Good

They are the OEM wheels that came on the truck. Special editions for the 2000 Limited. Sedona it is. My father-in-law has a house up there that we get to use on occasion. My wife and I got married up there. Would love to live there someday.

    Still Looks Good

Just under 200k on the clock and still cruises the freeway pretty nicely, although there are a few bits I'm sure could use some replacing, which will happen in the near future. Still looks good going down the road for being 18 years old. This has been one of my favorite cars I have owned. I...

Drivers Rear Brake and Turnsignal Not Working

Just a follow up. I went out and connected the passenger side to the driver's side and all worked . So I bought a new circuit board, put the light in it and all was fine. Problem solved.
