If you have blower speed problems check the relay IMMEDIATELY

As the title says, check the relay immediately if you lose a speed on your blower selection. My wife texted me and said that there was smoke coming out of the dash... relay was shorted and connector and wiring was melted. She said she noticed a week ago that only number 5 worked on the...

    Wife hit a pole....

Went outside this morning to check the mail and saw this. Asked my wife what she hit.... she said "Oh, I bumped a light pole in the lot at work... is it bad?" Is it bad? There is concrete dust on the damn thing. Count to ten, it will be a good weekend, it WILL be a good weekend

Well Tach gave me a heart attack tonight.

So the wife is the main driver of the Tahoe. My old Ford is my work truck, and I drive the Tahoe on weekends. So she says about an hour ago, " hey I ordered us the appetizer basket from the restaurant up the road." Fair enough so I hop in the Tahoe and immediately the low fuel light is apparent...

How cold is it where you are today?

While the midwest doesn't get as cold as say Alaska, it is a bit chilly here today. Thermometer at my house said -19F (-28c) this morning when I left for work. The old work truck took a bit to build oil pressure lol. Cold start today Wish I knew how to post videos instead of just YouTube links..

    My Hotrod Project

It got brought up in Tonys build thread, so I figured I should start my own. That way I don't pirate his thread. So back story, my uncle likes to buy cars he is going to "do something cool with". Then after the project is almost done he loses interest. Or, if the outcome does not look like it...

    Started a new job

Well, after 15 years of industrial maintenance at the aluminum foundry I have moved on to a new job. Not that the old place was bad, I just felt that management had made a few decisions i couldn't look passed. So now i rebuild fuel pumps and injectors for a big diesel manufacturer. Better pay...

Got to use the Tahoe as an "ambulance "

So my wife and i were headed home yesterday afternoon, and i could see something in the road ahead of us. She looked up at the right time and saw it too, then asked was that alive? I said yeah as i braked to do a U turn and hit the stability button because i didnt want to be "nannied" with the...

Thinking about adding to the fleet but want opinions.

So found a local Denali Yukon xl. I have walked around it and glanced under and seems to be 98% rust free. But ad say has some diff noise. Ill post the ad and you guys can read for yourselves, and the AWD guys let me know what you think the noise could be. I know the awd diffs are known for...

    Air conditioning clutch air gap

Anyone know where a guy can get different shims to sent the clutch air gap on the ac compressor? The gap on my Silverado is .040 and spec is .020 to .035. Just got enough gap to not pull it in unless tapped.

Be careful out there at work

Off topic of vehicles, but there was an accident up the road from my work last week. And since it is the same line of work we all had to go over the details to help prevent a similar accident here. Guy was killed ( believe me when i say luckily instantly) his first week on the job. Make it...

    Sun roof circuit question

So in the last week my wife has left her sun roof open 3 times since it has been decent during the day. However, at night we have been getting drizzle and im not about to deal with electric issues if she keeps it up. So since i am at work and thought about this... i dont have the owner's manual...

Not the Tahoe, but need to rant.

IQ tests should be given before you are allowed to use an impact gun. Planned on doing brakes and stub shaft u joints today on the f150. My lug nuts said that is a hard no. Last place they were loose was the tire shop when i had new fronts installed. A 4 foot pipe on my tire iron wouldnt budge...

    Z71 plastic trim removal

I tried a quick search but didnt get real in depth. So what is the thought on removing the plastic rocker covers to slow the rockers from starting to rot away? As i am sure they trap garbage and hold it in place. From what i can tell from the underside they look ok right now. And, if i can keep...

Boredom leads to back road 1/4 mile runs

I labelled the 2 sheets because the printouts both show the tahoe. I didn't feel like reentering the info. Truck is a little faster. But that may be just be the difference between the L33 and L59 because all the rest of the driveline is the same. Weight may play a small difference too. And the...

    Headlight wattage question

Hey guys, on my 06 Tahoe i planned on putting some better bulbs in than it has currently. Pretty sure it has Sylvania blue coated bulbs now, and i have to run with the fogs at a minimum to see the road decent. And most of the time i have the highs on even in town. I can get some 80 watt lows...

Wiper arm stand up for snow?

I dont know how i never noticed that the Tahoe wipers only pull about 2 inches away from the windshield and don't have a way to keep them there. When did chevy start that? My old Blazer stood straight up and even my old 95 f150 work beater has locks to keep them off the windshield in icy weather...

Well, ive been on this forum for a while now, and it is well put together.
