... stupid because it took me so long to notice.

Up near the roof, in the right rear corner (D Pillar?) are 3 small lights, in a horizontal row. I noticed last night that they light up when I shift into reverse. One lit once and all 3 lit once.

Why? What are they?

Does this explain what you are seeing?
View attachment 485422

Mine's evidently out of whack, but yes. Thanks.

I've never heard a tone, but maybe it's because I have after market screen and audio gear.

The time only one came on, I thought it was the red one, which is contrary to the manual. That's probably my error.

I think I'll rely on the mirrors and windows; the way I've been doing it for over 50 years. I haven't backed in to anything since the last time.

I still don't trust the rear camera view. It's getting worse, because parking lot idiots just assume now that they can walk behind your truck without paying any attention or caution.

I don't trust back up sensors either and prefer to use my mirrors over the backup camera most of the time.

I use mine regularly, along with the mirrors of course, and I've not hit anything yet. I do not get an audible warning, when my red light lights up.

I have the backup sensors but no red lights inside on my 2012 Denali. Could the fact I have the backup camera eliminate the 3 red lights inside?

Even if they don't work, if they were installed they should still be there. I can't imagine anyone spending the time, effort, and money to remove them.

From the driver's seat, look over your right shoulder. They should be up high, in the right rear corner. They're not large. The whole thing is maybe 1" x 1/4".

My 09 Tahoe had those, but my 13 Tahoe does not. 09 was LS trim with cloth seats and it had a backup camera in the mirror. 13 is LT with leather and none of that stuff. (I added an Alpine head unit with backup cam tho)
