so for christmas i recieved a 7" dvd, nav, dd hu from china, i finally got the pac c2r gm 24 to install it and tried to today and i am getting alternator whine, i know its caused usually from a bad ground or electric feilds crossing over through the rca cables so i tried cutting the rca wires and going with the speaker set up and still there, the local stereo shop says it is just the poor quality of the hu but i do not want to give up on it, so im hoping someone has a sollution for me, thx

I fought with this since day 1. What I did was pull out the cup holders and chop the speaker wires going into the amp and running them straight to the back of my deck. So quiet now! I will post some pics and directions tomorrow after work.

I did the big3, bought a new alternator, grounded my deck at the driver kick panel etc.. This is the only thing that worked

hey thx for the help, i am confused on a couple of things, did you use the pac c2r gm24 thing? also what are the big 3? buying the new alt, grounding, etc...? i did try a different ground and it helped but still no where near tolerable, i read that post i didnt see the pac thing so im guessing i do not need, with taking the speaker wires from the console im guessing is bypassing the amp?

Did you install a cap and choke on the power leads to the HU?

i will be honest and say no, i know what a cap is and i was thinking of buying a filter with one in it but what is a choke? i did find this online has anyone tried? http://home.comcast.net/~jbperkins/alternator_whine_filter/ do you think it could help
