I am trying to track my no cruise issue down, my steering wheel cruise button lights up and brake lights all work, I pulled the brake switch off and used some 2500 grit sand paper on the contacts but didn't help.
I've read about the LED lights causing issues and noticed my right light is aftermarket, not LED... I believe it's a DEPO brand OEM style light. I know it uses a different type of bulb in it compared to the OEM but I sure wouldn't think that it would make a difference in resistance or would it?

Best bet is to replace the switch.

yeah I agree. Just throw a new switch in first, they are cheap. Like $15. My first switch was AC Delco and didnt last but a month. Then bought one from advance auto parts, dorman brand I think and that has lasted. Could also be a bad hub/bearing if you havent had them replaced in a long time. That was the main reason my cruise never worked though I had no codes saying the hub was bad.

I will definitely get one on my next trip to Oreilleys.

I just bought this Yukon so I'm trying to fix one thing at a time and hopefully get to the end of the list soon!

There is no pattern as to when this works or doesn't work. When it does work, it works flawlessly and consistent. Then if I shut off the truck and restart, it'***** or miss if it will work again

@Ponchonutty, mine was sorta like that though much worse. It would only work every 50th try and then wouldn't stay on. It ended up being a bad wheel bearing.

@Ponchonutty , no thats the funny thing is I had no other symptoms that something was wrong. On my 2004 denali when the wheel bearing went bad it lit up the abs light and the stabilitrak. I had none of these problems on my 2009 so it was a real mystery as to why the cruise wouldnt work. It was dumb luck that I fixed it when replacing the wheel bearing. The wheel bearings on these trucks are all junk IMO. They dont last very long. I have also read that your abs sensor can sometimes be dirty if the bearing isnt bad. This dirty sensor will also prevent cruise from working though it usually will kick on the ABS light. But cleaning the sensor is tricky as alot of people break them in the process.

Interesting. Well I grabbed a scanner while it wasn't working and it had a brake switch low voltage code with the new switch in. Cleared the code and it worked. Must be a bad one out of the box

Bought a new switch and it WORKS!!! I would've sworn that my switch was okay when I tore it apart but now it makes sense while coming to a slow stop one day it died, I'm assuming the TCC didn't disengage and killed the engine.

I have a 2008 Avalanche with Cruise control issues.

I replaced the brake light switch twice and it still only works intermittently. I am pretty sure I have narrowed it down to something in and around the brake pedal. When CC is not engaging, if I kick the pedal or the arm its attached to it will start working again, also sometimes after simply stepping on the brake pedal the CC will engage. It seems like the issue would be the brake light switch but I replaced it twice; any thoughts on what else might be the culprit?

mine seems to only work at a certain temp. if it's cold in the morning when i head to work, it won't work. but always works in the afternoon when i'm heading home. I bought a new switch from rock auto and plan to swap them out but it still seems strange to me.

My '07 Denali had inop cruise control when I bought it. I replaced the brake switch a few days ago and it's been working ever since.

I would suggest everyone with inop cruise try replacing the switch first. The AC Delco part is $12 on Amazon and took me about 20 minutes start to finish with no idea what I was doing, so you're not taking a big risk even if it doesn't fix it.

Also worth noting, I read a few comments about how hard it was to get to the switch because of the confined space it's in... I'm 6'6", 300 lbs, and had no issue getting in there to change the switch, so don't believe any "You need to hire a little person to do it" claims you read.

well what a pain in the ass. I replaced the clockspring but that did not fix the cruise. Now what? I guess its possible the actual switch on the steering wheel is bad. When I turn the cruise on by pushing the button it lights up but maybe the button for "set" is not working. Anyone have any other ideas?
I'm having the same problem 08 yukon Denali replaced brake light switch not sure what else to do?

I'm not aware of any adjustment for it, sorry. Does the yellow power light on the cruise on/off button on your steering wheel come on and the cruise just won't set, or is the light not illuminating at all?
