Looking for some advice... I had an Alpine X009-GM Restyle HU installed about 2months ago and I am having an issue with the navigation and wanted to see if anyone has experience or the same problem. When I am using the navigation it does not track my location very accurately. For instance if I'm driving down the freeway sometimes it will have me on the correct path then I look back and it has me on some side street next the freeway giving me directions to get back on. It's a bit frustrating, especially when I'm using it in an area I know well. I have updated the maps so they are up to day and still having the same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The only issue I have with mine is where it will randomly zoom in on where I am. I must have a setting activated that I have to figure out how to change. Other than that mine works great, keeps perfect track of my location. Maybe go back to where you bought it and have them contact Alpine for you.

Have you tried moving the GPS antennae (I assume it has one)? I am guessing it is not receiving a very good signal.

Do you have metallic window tint on the windshield?, is the GPS antenna installed in the correct location?

I have a strip of tint at the top of the windshield, not sure if its metallic. The antenna is installed where Alpine recommended (under the front dash trim next to the photosensor).

There's a chance the strip of tint could be metallic which can degrade GPS signal, if not check GPS antenna connection for damage or loose, or it could be just a signal obstruction GPS satellites bounce off buildings, the GPS receiver can be confused by the extra time the signal took to reach it. In these cases, you may observe sudden large errors in position. Tap information and look out for the GPS reception status.

I experienced the same thing, but only in certain parts of Houston around some large over passes and buildings. It was spot on otherwise though.

I also had the auto-zoom thing happen but there's a setting to turn that off.

My lazy ass finally uninstalled the head unit to dig into it more. I realized that the navigation antenna was installed on the plastic dash shelf just above the unit (never have Best Buy install your HU).... I moved the antenna to a spot under the front dash panel ( as specified in the install manual) and it worked flawlessly. Lesson here, take a shot at installing yourself first! I also installed a parking brake bypass and it's works awesome, if you own the x009-gm it's worth installing one!!

X009-gm looks nice , anybody knows how it stacks up against pioneer avic8200 HU. Hows the hard buttons on the x009, is it really hard or softpress w no click sound? I'm thinking of putting it in my truck if possible.

Is yours connected to your truck for the tire pressure monitor and check engine light? I saw some reviews with people saying the Alpine unit took over their truck and caused problems. I'm unsure if I even want to use those features.

From what I can see it's a 2 year old radio. So comparing it to a brand new model would be apples to oranges. I just purchased the x009 myself but it had the features I needed. For me it does everything the 8200 does with the exception of CarPlay, and honestly I'm not a huge fan. But it's adds optic out which I'll need for my processor and it looks so much better in our trucks.

Don't feel bad, my first alarm install with Best Buy was so bad it had to be uninstalled. One of their trainers did 2nd install flawlessly. Truck was broken into and almost stolen and alarm had to be replaced again..3rd install done by another C student and he didn't connect my interior sirens, battery backup and overall pissed me off. Lost my tachometer and Took over a year to figure out 1st installer hacked into my tach signal at the pcm and his shoddy connection had come loose..they won't ever touch my truck again..

Sorry for the hijack as I was here for the headunit lol..i need to replace my head unit and will be doing it myself.

I bought mine about a year ago from a member here, the unit is still going strong, however the unit occasionally reboots it self and freezes but its no biggie it rarely happens so doesn't bug me much. It has all the features I need and also improved sound quality on stock speakers. for a 3k unit just wished it operated like a android/apple tablet... btw does anyone have the hvac option on their unit?? found these pics from alpine

Especially for hard press buttons. I don't have it , I like it from what I c on YouTube but on those videos I've notice when the side buttons are pressed , they make a click sound. Now for $2500, soft touch buttons it should of been.

I could be wrong. But for it to be 2 years old. $2500 is a stretch. And in my personal opinion , Alpine is inferior to Pioneer. Only if pioneer made restyle kits.

For 2.5k you could probably have a custom made In dash pc/tablet retrofitted.

:emotions122: I fell asleep and woke up thinking about why the screen flipped out if no CD/DVD slot existed. Then it hit me..you was joking. You was joking right? Lol

If pioneer made this it wouldn't cost $2500. Probably $1800 thats including tax, installation fee, shipping fee, customer support fee return fee recycling fee and donation to whatever charity. And you might get a rebate lol.

Alpine is great but these restyle kits are wayyy overpriced and outdated. Guess they say if the dealer could mark up the price on factory parts why can't they. ,Pioneer is like , were doing our own thing. Hence the name ...Pioneer.
