Hello all newbie to the forum...I am wanting to put factory HUD into my 15 Tahoe LTZ has everything but that...I can get all factory parts...my question is...is the wiring in place already? If not where would I find the harness and where it gets plugged in?
Thanks all!!

not sure with these trucks, but in C5 corvettes, you needed an instrument cluster that supported it, the HUD unit, and a wiring harness between the two. As well as a new dash pad or you could cut out the section for the HUD unit and drop it in.

I had my dash apart the other day while installing some tweeters and noticed a square cut out with an un-utilized plug. Maybe it can be plug in play if you just purchase the unit? Does anybody know what that plug is for? It tucks in a cut out not plugged into anything. (15 Suburban LS)

Are we thinking it'd just be a plug and play option? No controls anywhere to turn it on or off? That's all I'm missing in my '15 ltz also and would love to add only if it looks factory installed.

So dumb question, what shows up on HUD, on my LT it has the collision avoidance flashing red lights but that is it. Does the part above provide more info?

I remember there being a toggle by your left knee to adjust the projection up/down for different height drivers.

I saw that it looks like our Denali has the dash cutout for the HUD also. After having it in one of my other cars I do really appreciate it and miss it in our truck.

Hud shows speed, compass direction, navigation turns, speed limit,

At left side there is a set of 3 toggle switches for dimmer
Up/down and info to be displayed

I think it's a little annoying but I do like the reconfigurable cluster on the 16 tahoes.

I may be wrong but I believe it also uses a different windshield. I test drove an Arcadia with it and it appeared the windshield was different where the hud actually reflects.

This one I can answer, yes it "requires" a different windshield but it also requires the up level 2016 cluster and custom programming as the cluster is the portion that drives the HUD.

Hi guys. First post here, but longtime lurker. I own a 2015 GMC Yukon Denali. I'm wanting to add HUD as well. I know this much, the part listed above (http://www.ebay.com/itm/2015-Tahoe-Suburban-Yukon-Denali-HUD-Projector-OEM-23474646-New-/231785093435?fits=Model:Tahoe&hash=item35f777d93b:g:Gc0AAOSw5IJWcG2m&vxp=mtr) can be installed, but how do you remove the top of the dash? Also, it requires a larger opening than is in the dash without the HUD. Where can I find that and how much is it? The HUD equipped units have a larger cut out in the dash. The windshield already is reflective, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Also, the buttons for the HUD controls need to be installed which require a new trim panel
(With cutouts) and of course the buttons/controls. These were available in the 2015 models, but wasn't in mine front the factory. This is a feature I really want very badly and I'm hoping someone can give me part #s for the following:

HUD projector lamp
Harness (not sure if already in the panel)
Dash trim with HUD control cutout
Dashboard with HUD (larger) opening (directly above the steering wheel)

Your help is appreciated. TIA.

Dupic8tor,
Just wondering if you made any progress in your search? I'm very curious if this retrofit is possible.

I have a '15 Denali XL, does this still require programming or just the parts?

It is we do the custom programming to enable the hud have had a few guys do it on the pickups.

Please do elaborate. How do they add it on the pickups?
