No matter what you are buying (vehicle, phone, pc, stocks, etc) there's always going to be that new and improved next best thing right around the corner. If I always waited for what was next, I'd still be driving my 00 Celica.

I personally am thrilled with my YD. It's my wife's DD and I promise she (nor any other woman) will neither notice the difference, nor care, in either a 6, 8 or even 10 speed trans. If I wanted a race car, I'd be waiting for the 2015 Z06.

I have my vehicle now, am driving it daily and enjoying it. Anyone who wants to wait to each their own. My .02.

I for one am hoping this body style stays the same for as long as the previous generation where I won't have to update for 6-8 years.

I've bought a lot of new vehicles. It has been my experience that I have had to work through and iron out the bugs in each one. Our previous vehicle was a 2013 Explorer and was a total POS. It was in better shape when I traded of off with 28k on it than when it was brand new. I had worked through and eliminated around a dozen problems. These new vehicles have so much technology things do have problems.

There's a vast difference between Apple coming up with a new cell phone every year and GM making major updates on a new $70k+ vehicle platform half a year later just because they couldn't time their release right, either by delaying it by a few months until it was ready or by developing its tech in time for when the new gen was released. This happened, it's not up for debate.

The worse part is that none of this is news, so anyone other than those with an actual gun to their head to be the first one on the block with one of these 6.2 vehicles had the information required to wait. It's not last century, there's hundreds of blogs, forums, and other news sources with the info. Hell, even the owner's manuals have the foot activated lifgate instructions without the feature being installed.

So when they go to sell their 15 vehicles and they get 5+ grand less than their 15.5 counterparts, they will have no one to blame but themselves. But their haste at least served a purpose for the greater good, for in addition to their less valuable asset, all their trips to the dealership will serve those with a little patience well when GM remedies the new gen issues on the back of their experience.

Reductio ad absurdum fallacies aside about waiting till 2028, there's no excuse for these vehicles' transmissions and nav systems being obsolete within the same model year. PERIOD. Anyone saying otherwise is just being a GM apologist for no reason other than tenuous brand tribalism.

soulsea....very well said. This a MAJOR power train update. Not just a minor luxury feature or color addition. An 8-speed Denali with a 6.2L (which was originally designed to mate with the 8-speed) is just going to drive completely different!

Thank you! This is why I find it so annoying when people keep saying, "there will always be something new" or "can't wait forever". Come on guys?!? This is a HUGE mechanical revision that will probably carry through the production life cycle of this body style. After the eight speed and 2016 MY I would agree there is no reason to wait period.

We ordered Iridium with Cocoa Shale interior too. I have '11 SRX with Cocoa/Shale interior and it has held up well over last 3 yrs. It still looks like new. Drivers seat has minimal creases but the srx seats seem kinda hard and the leather is stiffer than the Denali I think. We're pretty careful about not spilling and try not to slide in and out of the car. No kiddos either. Best of luck to you!

Agree good idea, I buy my 15 XL Denali so I can upgrade anytime I wanted but, will wait after first come out and work right.

I thought about keeping mine for a few years; however, there are some people that can't wait for the 2015.5 so I sold mine now knowing that I would get the most I could ever get for my 2015 if I sold it now. The 6-speed 2015 will be worth a lot less in a few years vs. 2015.5...especially when it becomes commonplace about the 8-speed trans, etc in upcoming auto shows this fall and articles reviewing the 8-speed equipped trucks.

Most of these are driven by soccer moms(mine) who only care that they drive where pointed and get decent mpgs. My 15 is getting 3-4 more mpg city than my 05 Esky...and it's new. My wife could care less about the trans.

A few people will nitpick, but the najority will not care. I didn't want to wait...and I'm scared of new transmissions. Ford/Dodge/GM have all screwed the pooch with new transmissions in the past. I have zero regrets with my "old tech". I'm actually amazed that anyone would part with $1700 on the basis that the 15.5 model will depreciate their current 15 model exponentially

I think the guys who care about is the traveling people those that they travel a lot and put a lot miles on the car,maybe they are people they may have 1500 miles in 3-4 months car and they do not use that much after the first come out we will wait 1 year and go switch after the prove to work right.

Soccer moms don't value vehicles, they drive them. It doesn't matter if any owner knows what trans he has, when he/she goes to trade the vehicle the dealer will, and then they will know. Like I said, it's going to be exactly like 09 6.2 LTZ Tahoe in reverse where those vehicle get thousands more than their 5.3 counterparts.

I mentioned that I took a $1700 loss....but I see it as a $1700 gain since the new truck will be a 2015.5 and have the 8-speed...I'll gain that in resale. Put it this way, if they had an option for 6-speed transmission as standard equipment and 8-speed automatic and 4G/LTE Generation 10 OnStar as a $1700 option package, I would have paid the $1700 extra.

It's not about soccer moms, etc. I will know the difference when I mash the pedal on an 8-Speed Denali with a lower 1st gear ratio, taller rear end ratio, two overdrive gears, etc., etc. It will just be a faster, more responsive, smoother vehicle. How that fares with the general population? Well that's their issue. For me, $1700 to have an 8-speed vehicle for the next 4-5 years vs. an outdated 6-speed unit was worth the move.

....and yes, the 6-speed is 7 year old "old tech" for sure in comparison to the 8-speed unit.
