Purchase or Lease?

For those of you getting 2015 Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade's how many of you are opting for a lease over purchase? It seems like with the prices they are asking for these things that not many people are going the purchase route. Thoughts?

I just purchased a Tahoe LT 4x4. We only buy a family car about every 6 years so purchase on a longer finance term makes sense for us.

I'm thinking about getting either a Tahoe or Yukon. Haven't decided which but will purchase once I decide.

I don't get how anyone can lease a car.. no make sense....

This makes no sense to me. You just finish paying it off after 60 or 72 months just to sell it and start over? You might as well lease then and drive new every two. Your gonna have payments either way.

I agree, just a waste of money imo. Unless you have it to blow, then who cares. But you cant mod a leased vehicle so then again whats the point

I should have been more clear. This is the first new car I have ever bought the plan is to keep it much longer than 6 years. I have always bought cars with at least 40k miles.

You're throwing the money away either way unless you plan on keeping it for a very long time. Lease you know what you're losing and purchase you do not. It really comes down to how long you want to keep thevehicle

X2. Immediate deprication when you drive off the lot. I'd rather buy a used mint condish vehicle and be the 2nd owner like all the vehicles I've ever bought. PLUS I can mod a car I buy, and can't mod a lease vehicle.

Good to know most on here would purchase. I would probably do the same but seeing how the price of these vehicles brand new are most likely out of reach for the average joe. I mean a vehicle that is 60k would have a monthly payment of 800-900 dollars a month? Given no trade or money down. That's a pretty hefty monthly payment.

Yeah, probably not the best vehicle for the average Joe. If you're not making at least 6 figures with little to no debt then you probably want to consider a cheaper vehicle or going the used route. Can still get very nice vehicles that way. If you can wait a year or two you'll be able to find low mileage 2015s for considerably cheaper.

This is very true. My wife needed a car now. I did not want to buy something now and then buy another car in a year or 2 when the 2015's were available used. My wife wanted all the stuff that comes on the new Tahoe and the much improved interior, quieter ride, etc. She did not like the older ones as much. If her Volvo XC90 had not been on the verge of a $5,000 repair bill I would have waited until these started showing up used and save 7-10K.

I could afford it and make that kind of money actually. Just doesn't economically make sense to spend 60-70 when you can get a used one for upper 30's/lower 40's in mint condition within a year or two... after the interest accrued, you are literally throwing lots of money away. I'd rather buy nice things for around the house or let it go towards mod money.
