Comp-Temp Display is Very Dim

Last evening, out of nowhere, the mirror started working, auto dimming and all. Today...no joy. I reflowed the six questionable joints as well as any others I could access. Still no joy. I've given up and will find a used mirror.

That sucks man, was really hoping that would indeed solve your problem like it did for myself as well as a few others! If it was me, I would be reflowing all of the joints in that mirror especially since it did start working out of nowhere yesterday for you! Good luck with your quest for a replacement and sorry I couldn't have been more help for ya!

Please know that I really appreciate all your help. I did get a cure this morning. I purchased a used mirror from a local used parts place. $49 OTD. I checked it in the parking lot and it works as it should. The unit came with a 90 day warranty. Hopefully it will last a long time. Thanks again!

Thanks. I was going to trash it. It is of no use to me; trying to keep the clutter to a minimum! LOL

USPS Priority Mail is the cheapest route. Shoot me a PM with you address and I'll get it heading your way...right after Christmas! We're leaving tomorrow for our first ski trip of the season. Will be back on Christmas Day.

I know they have a small flat rate box that is around $6 to ship to me, if it's around that price then sounds like a plan! I'll pm you my address info and let me know what you find out!

The replacement mirror worked great for the first few days of our ski trip. Then, the comp/temp display when blank (completely). However, the auto dimming part of the mirror is still working. I will try to reflow the 6 solder joints prior to asking for a replacement from the used parts dealer.

...when will it end! LOL

When it went, it apparently went quick and never came back on.

Yep. I'm beginning to think the Yukon may be possessed! So far, It has been one thing after another. Oh well... one step at the time!

I may try to pull the mirror today and try to reflow the joints. I'll update after that is done.

OK. I pulled the "replacement" mirror and did the reflow solder joints on the six designated spots. Hooked it up and all is well! Chris, thanks for that wonderful tip. At least it finally worked for me! LOL

Hopefully it's a permanent fix for you, would drive me up the wall if all that was happening to me! Make sure that one works for you and when you decide it does, let me know and I'll take the other one off your hands!

I took a hard spill on the snowboard on Tuesday. ended up with a mild concussion; balance is way off (lot's of staggering) and it has also effected my vision. However, thankfully...all things seem to be resolving, albeit a bit slowly! I've got to get better....leaving in 2 weeks for another 8 day ski/board trip! Yep...I'll probably be the old guy on the kiddie slope this go round! LOL

No biggie man, like I said before take your time and let me know when you do so I can send you some $$$. And yes, getting old sucks because crashes of that sort take way longer and seem to be more painful than the younger years!
