I know this has been asked before but after a quick search I couldnt find what I was looking for.

Today I received the Airaid MIT for my Esky. Besides a drop in K&N its totally stock. In two weeks I am getting a BB in person tune so my question is how much hp can I REALISTICALY expect between the tube and tune?

Allot less gas mileage when you slam on the pedal for that cool intake sound with the new pep from the bbt.

The difference won't be noticeable. The tune is what you will feel the most the gain in horsepower is minimal and just a placebo.

Since the OEM system is a CAI w/ sound mufflers, you won't see any hp or mpg increase, just a throaty roar at WOT.

A tune is where it's at.

As stated the tune will make the most difference. The AirRaid is minimal difference if any. I don't have any HP numbers for increase with the tune (maybe Jenna has some figures) but I noticed the most difference with the throttle response my Burb now has with the BB tune and the must smoother shift points! It's like a whole new ride and gets up and goes MUCH quicker than it ever did before.

Of course, yours has the 6.2 so I'd expect the difference to be even more dramatic for you.

I would consider the auto cal since you just got the truck and may want to go deeper into your mods. I think you mentioned you still had a warranty also right?

The in person tune will definitely be nice but will be permanent and not much room for changes after.

Get a autocal and still have him tune it in person so that when you decide on more mods you can dial in the tune.

Nobody can tell you for sure how much hp you will increase but I can honestly say once tuned it will feel like you gained 100 hp.

Feel like 100hp are you nuts? LOL, its a tune not a blower! ;) I would be happy if it felt like half that!

Tunes don't make a ton of power by themselves. While there are some real-world horsepower/torque gains to be had, really it's the optimization of the fuel tables and torque management that provide really nice driveability gains. You don't need to make a ton more power to make the truck much more fun to drive - you just need a guy like Justin who can tell the computer to get off it's ass. ;)

You'll be very happy in the end, trust me. My '00 Yukon was a whole new truck after they were done, and that was WITH a phantom intake leak that we couldn't find. I just plunked down the security deposit for a scan cable to get my Tahoe done, really looking forward to seeing what he can do with the NNBS.

A lot of the sluggish feel these truck have is due to torque management which is what allows GM to warranty the power-train for 5/100K. When all or part of it is removed, more stress is put on the drive-train.

Again, it's about improving the driveability of the truck. You don't need to add mad amounts of hp/tq to maximize the potential that's already there. Besides, you can tune three identical trucks, put them on the dyno, and get three completely different results. Each engine is unique, and it's overall output depends on a ton of factors...how it was built, how it was broken in, how it's been maintained, it's current mileage, etc. I'd imagine this is why black bear doesn't advertise "XX horsepower increase guarenteed!".

Without putting your truck on a dyno before and after, all we are doing is guessing.

I am going to try and find a local dyno this week to see where I am now. Then I have the Airaid MIT that needs to be instaled then off to NJ next weekend for my tune! Cannot wait!!

16 HP at the tires was before and after a dyno. The second run was quite a bit hotter than the first run 3 months earlier, probably 65 deg. VS 85 deg., but I didn't have a thermometer handy. It was the same dyno and experienced operator. I did not do it again after the tube, but BB did re-tune for it and I'd guess another 5-6 HP, so maybe 25 RWHP for both, at least on a 6.2, but my guess is that's pushing it.
