im thinking in the next two weeks i am going to place my order on my BB tune i think im going for the traditional tune

im looking through the form and basically want to ask what would you guys remove or modify to get the best possible performance gain and MPG

so for gear ratio does anyone know what size the stock gears are? my truck is a 2000 ls 5.3 non posi

tire size is 305/35/24

performance mods are a CAI corvette servo and flowmaster 40 series muffler

preffered octane level is a 89 octane a good octane to run? thats what i already pump soo i figured i wud do that one.

desired speed limiter? is it better just to dissable this?
shift firmness..i have the corvette servo that already firmed up the shifts

tow/haul with sport settings..defenetly want this one

torque management reduction..how much off this do you guys remove and what is the purpose of the torque management?

any other things i can request to be dissabled to get a better tune and performance?

Well to can look in your glove box at the RPO codes. Most likely you have 3.73 gears.

Tell them all your mods. They know what they're doing even with traditional.

When it comes to shift firmness, there is part throttle and WOT. Tell them exactly how you want it. Or you can leave shift firmness alone of the servo is suitable to your needs.

I chose 89 octane because i never use anything other than 89. Works good for mine.

Speed limiter can be left alone or bumped up to whatever. 120+ if you want.

I had them change my tow/haul to sport mode. In sport mode, i don't believe there is ANY torque management, therefore i had them set my torque management to about 75% less when not in sport mode. And torque management basically just reduces engine power when upshifting which helps keep your tranny from further issues because the 4L60 sucks. Remove 75% and you'll be fine.

To get the most out of your tune, tell them anything and everything you've added or nodded and any future things you may do AFTER the tune. Be sure to tell them your tire size so they can adjust your Speedo! you can always get a free retune if you pay the shipping.

I have the traditional tune now for about two months, and i love it! Smoked an '08 hemi with ease.

Well, he had no chance of catching up. All I have is a flow master muffler and a CAI and obviously the tune. Cam will be in it at the end of the summer. Hemis are actually not as great as they say they are.

I had a Diablo predator tuner before my black bear and the black bear def. Unlocked some more ponies than the Diablo could. I LOVE sport shift. And it takes off about the same for me.. Its a pig. Lol.

And I don't look at my mpg's anymore. I have mud terrain tires and am always driving against the wind where I live. But id assume itd be better without all that

Little update on the gas mileage:

I drove 20 miles between two towns at the highway speed limit (55) and its all completely flat ground. There was also no wind this day. I averaged 18.5 mpg with my mud terrain tires. So that's pretty damn good.

As for as I am concerned the traditional tune is a waste of money and time. I saw no additional benefits and was at odds with BB performance. We exchanged emails (several)with the option of a phone call but they wouldn't call me. I went on a road trip with the CEL for 1800 Miles. The in person maybe another experience. But I wouldn't know.

The torque management system kills a lot of the power the trucks can produce off the line / out of the hole! With tires and wells that big you ought to look into re gearing to a lower gear that will give you a lot of power back and give you back some MPG.
As for Hemis they are turds! I have this kid down the road from me that had a rumble bee and thought it was quick but could never touch me. Now he has a new 2013 ram with the Hemi and I still whoop his ass up and down the street.

On gears. Re gearing will help you a shit load with what you want more power and better fuel econmy! It won't really give you more power it will put you back closer to your stock power bands or better honestly. I will promise you do that with at least a good posi - L/S diff and you won't regret it.
