Z71 Step tubes

I have an 03 Z71 I purchsed about 4 months ago and ever since I bought it there was/is a considerable amout of flex in the running boards when you step on them. I looked under them to see if a bracket was missing or something like that but everything appears to be in place and solid (no rust). My question is does anyone know if they are designed like this so they dont get bent up offroad or are my rocker pannels rusting out on me (I would be really shocked if this is the case. This is one clean hoe with only 70K) If anyone bought a Z71 new and can answer if it has always been like this it would be greatly appreciated... Thanks

Thanks, I appreciate it... I mean they move less than an inch but still when you step on them it gets you second guessing... Thank for your reply though guess i'm screwed...

No pun intended but how much do you weigh? if you are a heavier set guy they will flex a little , when I step on my rails they hardly move , but when my friend who weighs close to 270 steps on them they will flex

Mine dont flex at all but I am only 180 soaking wet with wheel weights in my pockets

I weight 3 bills and mine do not flex. I step in my friend new f150 and they flex a little. My z71 rails are rock solid.

I don't think they should flex, check and make sure the bolts are all tight.

I bought my Suburban Z-71 new in 2002. No flex.
