WOW!!!! that is incredible Steve! You're lucky to be alive today that is for sure. How did the motorists in the Scion fair?

In the title above the pics he said they didn't make it.........

the best thing about having a big SUV-surviving something like that....

only the peeps in the Scion died, the people in the OBS and my car lived somehow.

[/threadjack]

They're definitely solid trucks, glad to see someone else is unluckily lucky too.

Wow that was a crazy accident.
I drive my yukon bc i want to live and from the safety it provides. The only thing i have to be worried about is getting t ***** from a semi, another large suv, and thats about it. The price of gas is nothing compared to injuries, death, and disability. Just remember that if u choose to downsize

Steven, those pics are crazy!! Glad you're alive and you too David!

Glad you're O.K.

Your sentence above is another reason why I have a dash cam in my Tahoe. I want a witness.

Dash cam?

So, went to Gerber Collision today to sign some papers to get the estimates/repairs going. Guy came out and took a look at my truck, spurted out $10,000. I was like, ***** please,:yaoface2: and am going somewhere else. More pictures of damage. What do you guys think? seriously 10k damage? Considering there isn't any suspension/frame/axel damage?

Oh, and he said "an insurance company wouldn't classify this as totaled," And I was like, Oh really? Ya don't say! Its just a freakin' dent (Obviously a little more, but you get the point). I'm definitely taking it somewhere else where they don't try to rip off college students. Anyway, here are some more pics to help with y'all's estimates.

I only understood like half of that, but I get what you mean. My mom recommended I did it myself, too. But it's the case what if the pillar or something was messed up. I can't do body work for shit, either.

Definitely get a second opinion but I wouldn't be surprised if it was close to 10k...

Crazy, I couldn't imagine not having insurance. I could see 10k in damage there pretty easy. That door isn't the only thing that needs replacing.

Yeah I could see this beeing kinda close to 10k for repair. What does the inside rocker panel look like is that pushed back? or the window pillar? My dad just got in a accident with his '10 Tahoe hit a deer and cracked front bumper headlight and just pushed in the front quarter and door very little and it was about 3 grand to fix.

I would get several estimates. I got two estimates on my work truck recently and both places said i needed 2 new doors, rear panel, and a new frame so they could section out a piece of the cab. One body shop told me 4,500 and the other was 5,000. The one that told me 5,000 was going to replace my rear bumper bc it had a little damage.

Let me try n simplify it. When we had to do repair we removed the door and bokted the other on the used jacks from pillar to pillar to stretch it back out so the door closes like it should. We used a jack and like a 4x6 to push it back out

That's why I'm planning on putting a brush guard on mine in the near future.

Sucks bro but question: how much does your insurance cost a month compared to having collision insurance?

So, the reason why I didn't have collision was because I'm not paying for my insurance, my mom is, and beggars can't be choosers. I couldn't afford my payments, which haven't gone down since I was 16 (I think around $1500/year without collision). The truck was paid for, and I'm a good driver, so we never expected this to happen.

Anyway, a little update on the estimate:
Gerber collision said it was about 1.8k for parts, 2.2k body labor, 1.1k paint labor, and $750 for paint. The labor charges seem a little high to me... nearly 50 hours at $48 per for the body????? That seems f***ing ridiculous. Should take like 25 hours max, in my mind. Not even that much. And then 25 hours of paint labor @ $48 per AND 25 hours of "paint supplies" @ $30 per hour? WTF is THAT? All of this to paint one quarter panel and door?????

Let me know if I'm crazy or if these guys are.
