Two subs is going to be more than just adding low end. If you just want to add a little bass, I would take one of the subs, throw it in a sealed box and toss it in the corner that will be out of the way. That will be the most cost feasible option. But I have a feeling you will want more bass. Those aren't bad subs so you have a lot of options. Do you have an amp yet?

Yeh I have an amp and all the wiring just no box yet

Hey Guys,

Do a search on fleebay for 99 tahoe sub box and you'll see a box that fits under the rear seat that holds 2, 10" subs. I have one and it fits good, about 100 bucks shipped. Only problem is the mounting depth is only 4 1/2" but you could use a couple mdf spacers if your subs don't fit.

You can also do a google search for audio dynamics design, that's where my box came from.

Paul.

hey those wheels look very nice on your obs!!! Are those 'Titan' as in Nissan Titan stock wheels? Thanks and good luck with your subs!

Thanks man! :) They are 18s off a 2012 Nissan Titan. I found them on craigslist for $100. There are some more pictures in my thread.

you could prolly squeeze something in there but there is alot of stuff latch wise to get around, I would make a box or two that saddles the fender well you wont loose a whole lot of space.

Anyone else tried one of these boxes? They make them in a 8, 10, and 12. I thought about getting one and trying some of the MB Quart shallow mounts. Maybe some other type of shallow mount.

How much of the quarter panel did you have to cut out to make this possible

I cut the entire inside panel out, from the rear corners up to where the rear seats fold back to. I made the top and mounting face with 3/4" MDF to give me the approximate size I wanted, and fit pieces of MDF inside the cut fenderwells to make the sides. The back wall of the enclosure(s) is actually the outside skin of the fenderwell, with something like 6-8 layers of fiberglass mat stiffening it, and sealing it to the MDF of the box. All told, I've got about 2.4 cu ft per enclosure, which equates to about 2.0 cu ft after port and driver displacement, perfect for my old-school Celestion AD15-H's.... that's right, 15" subs in 2.0 cubes, can't do that with ANY of today's long-excursion subs.

I recessed the subs into the enclosures, so that I could make covers out of some 3/8" plywood to protect them. Drilled a bunch of 3/4" holes in a grid pattern to allow for air movement, and covered the cover with some acoustical carpet.

I've also got a pair of Powerbass S-10 subs in my center console I fabbed up, firing downward. I made brackets to move the seats out and back 1 1/2", I now have about 14" between the seatbelt mounts. Made an amp rack to fit on the floor from the dash to the back of the front seats, I have 3 amps mounted on it. The Powerbass subs are in a 2.0 cu ft enclosure (I think??), and fire downward at the amps, with about 1/2" of clearance between the cones at max travel and the amps. I had enough room to do a flip-open lid in the top of the enclosure, I can store about 20 CD's, and all my paperwork for work (as a contractor). This enclosure is squared-off, but the front face slopes down towards the dash, leaving me access to the power ports.

Been in my truck for about 4 years now, still going strong.

My next truck will be a Suburban, I plan on doing another center console the same way, but will do it with fiberglass and body filler, I want it to have a more rounded look to it.

Will get some pics up when I get it back... currently at the shop, having the FI spider replaced, the AC fixed, and whatever else it needs....

When I get it home, replacing the pads and rotors, shoes and drums, new hardware and adjusters this weekend (to the tune of $350 for parts). Also, picked up all four doors (in a helluva lot better shape than my current ones!), a hood, tailgate and rear quarter panels for $300, going to swap everything over, and then texture the whole '**.... will try a product called Restore from Home Depot, it's used to resurface decks and concrete, very similar to Herculiner or RhinoLiner.....

Guess I'm gonna keep my '** for another few years....

would have to tint the back windows DARK : )
My Tahoe was owned by the county... the fronts are 5% and it looks like they put 5% over the factory rear tint.

now thats an awesome setup.....but that would attrack thieves like crazy

I had an old '90 Suburban (big-ass boxy thing@!), that I spray-painted the rear quarter windows black. Inside, I built tool boxes from the middle-row seats all the way to the barn doors, could hold a LOT of shit in them! I imagine if I were to use all that space for subs, I'd have had about 15 cu ft per side, not including the well for the spare tire (on the driver's side).

Otherwise - don't have my Tahoe back yet.... no pics...
