Took all the plastic pieces that go on the front and rear bumpers and am currently giving them a fresh coat of black paint to match the painted lower valence I did awhile ago.

I'm doing the same but it started raining. Also I'm doing the plastic that goes in the wheel wells. I did one before the rain and it makes a HUGE difference from the faded black that was behind the wheels. You should consider it.

Hm. Good idea. Never even thought of that. I'm kind of in the same boat. Only thing is it is 50°F where I'm at so the paint will probably take forever to dry. Currently using a hair dryer off and on to try and heat the garage up a little. Sucks that you can't even paint though.

Yeah, that cooler weather cause havoc when painting. The whole open garage doesn't keep very much moisture out so I'm not even going to attempt to paint til it blows over. Might be waiting a couple days for it to completely blow over according to the forecast.

Just modded the mirror turn signal mod that I did a month ago....... and now I love it!! Added another strip of LED's on top of the first one in the mirror housing, now it is way brighter and now I have the LED look on the bottom and the side of the housing that I was after in the first place!!

If anyone is wanting to do this mod to their mirrors and install their LED's the way I did, I would highly recommend using 2 LED strips per mirror housing, this way when the blinkers are on, you will see LED's on both sides due to the angle of how the mirrors sit on the truck in comparison to looking at them from the rear of the truck!! Hard to explain on here but take my word for it, it is a way more uniform look!!

Video will be taken here in a hour or so when it is fully dark here and I will post up both the before and after so you guys can get an idea of what exactly what I'm talking about!

Waiting for video.

I can't visualize what you're talking about or why you'd add lights when they are already there....obviously missing something, here....lol.

Yeah, it's hard to explain over the computer!! Basically, if you stand behind your truck and look at your side mirrors, you will notice that the mirror housing isn't exactly angled at a 90 angle compared to the truck, so since I mounted the LED strips directly on the interior of the housing but in from the edge of the housing at about an inch in, the side portion of the LED's in the housing actually aims at the rear door! By putting that extra strip of LED on top of the other, you can actually see individual LED's now on the side and bottom! Basically, you now see the second layer of LED's on the side of the mirror, while seeing the first layer of LED's on the bottom, because of the angle of the mirror housing from the rear of the truck!
So hard to explain what I mean but hope that kinda helps out! But trust me, after taking my videos tonight of how everything looks, I do highly recommend 2 strips per housing! No overkill at all and very uniform, bright but not obnoxious!!

Gotta apoligize once again for the crappy video, my camera just doesn't like taking night pics of flashing lights!! lol

Video of the lights with only a single strip of LED's in each mirror:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHt5HKQH-rQ

Video of the lights with 2 LED's in each mirror:
http://youtu.be/xs4bMv3cKtU

Video of the mirror lights from inside of the truck:
http://youtu.be/MnoH2a_B3yw

Notice how the side of the mirrors is a bit more faint than the bottom on the first video but looks even with the bottom LED's in the second video? In the second video, you are seeing the bottom layer of led's on the bottom of the mirror while the sides of the mirror you are seeing the second layer of LED's because they sit out from first layer, giving you that uniform LED look on both sides from the rear of the truck!!

uh... wow, you completly lost me in your description. But after looking at vids, looks to be more red on the door itself and more uniformed of the red. Looks pretty good and bright. How is it during the day? Pretty bright as well?

and i laugh when i read your description about the videos. ha ha ha. I can see you try to tell someone that. lmao.... b/c it lost the mess out of me.

Either way... looks good fool.

I gotcha now. Looks awesome.

Do you not have the built-in lights in the mirror? Maybe that's why I was confused. In my mirrors, there is an arrow-shapped led turn signal built into the mirror itself. I thought that's what you were trying to modify. You're actually lighting up the entire housing, which is pretty slick...

I was thinking the same thing but after watching the video and reading the explanation, I now see the light. Very cool, I gotta do this mod soon.

Sorry guys, hard to explain unless you can see it in person!! As for the arrows, I don't have those built into the mirror but would still love to have those as well as the strips in the housing, both would look pretty cool together!
I love the mod, I was on the fence with how it looked with the single strip but I absolutely love how the double turned out!! Just wish I had a good camera that could take good night videos, the video makes it all look like crap but it looks pretty cool in person!

Got one step closer to completing my interior leds by getting the steering wheel controls done. Next step I think will be to get the caddy cluster I have sitting around converted over, programmed and installed.

Posted up a couple videos about the LED mirror mod, one is an attempt at showing and explaining why I went with 2 LED's in one housing and the other is a video of the lights from in the drivers seat during the daytime! When the weather gets good again in a day or 2, I'll try to make a few how to videos of the steps to doing this mod since I've had a few folks on here asking questions on how to do it for their trucks!

Explaination of the 2 LED strips:

Chris,

Did you keep all of the mirror adjustment movement, or do the LED's get in the way of that all? I'm digging this little mod, and it looks pretty easy to do.

I have full range of the mirror lens because I figured out how thick the mirror lens was and also how far into the mirror it traveled and then stuck the LED's an 1/8" farther in there so that way the mirror will never hit them! The front of the LED's are 1 1/8" in from the outer edge of the mirror housing, that's just what i figured would work for mine! And yes, it's pretty easy to do!

Guys, just out of curiosity ... is there no aftermarket mirror lens for NBS mirrors that emulates the NNBS lenses with the leds already in them?

Cause if not that's a business startup idea right there. :)
