WOW, I got the 4500K its amazing the light they put out, like sunshine in front of my car. I am very inexperienced when it comes to installing anything (ha-ha), but the install took all of 35 minutes with half of the time just figuring out the best placement of the Ballast. (Thanks for letting me know to switch the plug upside-down too!, that would of really got me)

So my question is, Where did you guys put your ballasts and for what reasons? Where is the "best" place and I'm looking to upgrade the High-beams (9005) or Fog lights (880) next. Where do you fit 2 ballasts from upgrading 2 sets of lights and also can i Mix my 4500k with 6000k or should I keep it all the same?

Any input is appreciated! :)

cool...bet you never need the highs, i say get 880's and call it good. My ballast is just inside the firewall, through the headlight opening behind the headlight.

please tell me you didn't put the low beams in the stock housings....

Well, until I find a good deal on Halo Projectors, and I aimed them down so it doesn't hit people in the eyes.

Where do you install the Ballast for Fogs? Also will the fog light stock housing fit HID's?

:shakehead:

You put the cart before the horse, and no matter how low you aim them there will still be glare. This is a pet peeve of mine, so if I'm coming off harsh here, sorry - but putting the HID's in your stock housing makes you no better than these punks in Civic's doing the same.

And are you dead set on halo's? Personally, I think the eBay halo's look like crap. LED's just do not cut it for halo's. I have CCFL's in my headlights, LED halo's in my fogs (on the Grand Cherokee, not the Tahoe). If you can't go CCFL, the halo's are useless.

you can mount the 880's and run 35w, not 55w, and mount ballast up under radiator. Find a nice dry spot if possible

Have you done this? I would like to see where people mounted the ballast for fog lights because I'm in New England and get bad winters and tons of salt/sand and would like to find a place for the ballast that is optimal.

I put mine right behind the skid plate on the silverado. Seem to be fine. Remember ballests are pretty tough, and can handle getting wet and stuff.

my honest opinion is I would worry about GM's stock wiring before the HIDS.

i installed my 880's 6k last night and just zip tied the ballasts and extra wiring to the harness above the fog light housings for now. damn they are even brighter than my 8k 55w kit! a HUGE improvement. I might just go to 4300 bulbs for both sometime in the near future.

Not to argue, but I have been driving a lot around at night (100 miles in 3 days) and 80% on streetes with no street lights, and not one person has "flashed" their lights at me or anything, so I'm 99% sure its not pissing people off haha

I went by an 08 escalde tonight with stock HIDS and they were brighter than my aftermarket ones. I flashed him and he flashed back and they got 4 times as bright, The vettes stock hids are not even that bad.

while those look good. 2 things

1. Phillips does not make aftermarket accessories. Only stock stuff, They are not real

2. They will be no different than any other HID kit. Dont waste your money.

Sorry, what I meant to say was they are Phillips patent based kits according to him.

Any lights. Economy kits are $75, philips patent kits (single beam) are $120 and real philips kits are $170. I only stock philips patent like you see on my website

No offense, but halos to me are useless whether you have CCFLs or LEDs driving them.

They just scream :rice: to me. I know lots of you guys like them, but I'll stick with OEM Denali projectors. The Hon-Duhs can have the halos.

The LED ones, agree totally. The CCFL's, that's a different story. They may look a little ricey, I'll give you that, but they are actually bright enough that they wrok as DRL's. I'll snap a few pics of the Jeep's lights tonight just to show you what I mean.

Then again, I think lowering a truck is rice, just shows that opinions can, and do vary. :)

Let me know when you get these installed and where you ended up putting all the wires/ballasts

Thanks
