Nothing really good to put in place of an oem tape deck so i figured id hop on the band wagon and install a 7" monitor in my center console. This is my first time ever working with fiberglass and bondo but i think its coming out pretty decent. I glassed it thursday and filled and sanded it saturday. There were a couple small bubbles in the bondo so i need to touch that up a bit then ill be able to paint it. Also need to run all the wires and hook up the camera still.

Heres my progress..... and remember this is my first time so its not that pretty.

Glassed

Only doing a backup camera for now until i can afford a nice DD unit or computer or something. Just wanted a little project for something to do during downtime. Let me know what you think.

Also if anyone knows the color code for the oem console color let me know. I cant find a good match so im thinking about doing like a flat black with a little clear so its sorta dull like the other black interior plastics. Open to suggestions

Thanks man, the viewing angles pretty good but its hard to tell without that actual video playing. Ill definitely post a vid or something when its all done.

Looks great to me. I located an extra trim piece yesterday so I could do the exact samething to my Yuk. Plan on starting it tomorrow. I plan on wrapping mine in vinyl or leather to match the interior. Way to go.

Thanks for all the good feedback guys.... Cant wait to see you guys try it out. Always cool to see how someone does something you did their own way, always learnin something new. But after doing this little project i definitely wanna try glassing something bigger.

Sorry guys no real updates havent had much time lately cus of work. Past couple days ive had a few minutes to work on it but ive just been re-filling some of the bubbled bondo spots and sanding it. Hoping to get this thing 100% this weekend.

Finished up mine yesterday. I am only using it for the nav system for now. It came with the truck. I wrapped mine in some vinyl with the same general texture of the factory plastic. Should be able to hook up a back up camera to it as well. The brain has four inputs, so maybe a DVD player also.
