I currently have a Jl Audio stealthbox in my 07 tahoe, but want to change it up and move my subs to the rear, since i don't have a third row. I can't decide if i want to go with 2 10" subs or 2 12"s. I am more into sound quality rather than crazy bass. I listen to about a 50/50 mix of alternative and hip hop. I am going to go sealed enclosure. Does anyone have any suggestions of what would be best? i am not running running crazy power to them, i have an Audison Mono Amp running 400 watts RMS, and am looking at either JL Audio W3 series or RE Audio SRX Series Subs.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I really like the W3s, dont have them, but if I ever switch my set up it would be those. Since you dont have a third row, i say go with the 12's personally. Unless you have some other stuff back there regularly that takes up a lot of room

Thanks guys. I'm pretty partial to JL as well, i've been using their stuff for a few years now and have been very happy with it. I think im set on the 2 12's. I never have anything in my trunk, so room isn't a big deal. I heard some good stuff about RE Audio form some local installers, so just though it would see if anyone has used them.

i'm actually thinking of getting a stealth enclosure myself. How'd the JL Stealthbox work for you? I just bought a JL Audio 250/1 and am currently on the hunt for the right enclosure for my 08 tahoe and considered this an option. Just wondering why you are switching it up...

The w3's in 12's will be perfect for what i think your looking for. If space is an issue you could upgrade to a single w6 aswell for a little more umph and similar bass. Or jsut uprade to a 1000/1 off two w6's. w6's are an amazing sub for output and sq

I like the JL Stealthbox. the 250/1 is a perfect combo for this sub. I have no complaints with it. It offers clean, tight bass. The reason i am changing is i prefer building my own custom sub enclosure in the back that i can customize to my liking. I bought my tahoe with the stealthbox in it, and was actually very impressed with its performance. It is a pricey option however, i believe around $600.

Once i finish my setup, i will probably put mine for sale, if your interested send me a PM.

I had two 10' solobaric L7's in my old m3, but i gave them to my little cousin. 2 of them in the back of the tahoe would be insane. Those subs can get deep!

Thanks for the suggestion. I think the 12 w3v3 will be a good choice. Space isn't an issue, since i dont have a 3rd row and i hardly use my trunk. I'll have some free time in a couple weeks after finals and ill get started on this.

I'm partial to 10's for a few reasons. They seem to be a little tighter, cover the gap between mids and subs a little better and still are capable of getting very loud and very low with a little less space. Just my humble opinion. I didn't have the room to put in a box, though I'm certain I wouldn't have done that even if I did have the room. I just finished this in my 07 Yukon and couldn't be happier.

By the way, I agree on JL. I had 3 10W6 way back in the day (1995 or so) and I LOVED them. So did the thieves that kept trying to steal them but they never made off with them. :)

you can do 312s way smaller than that too (although that setup is neat looking.. but you can do 3 12w3s sealed behind the 3rd row no issue if you do decide you wanna keep some room..

You know there are alot of brands out now making some really nice audio aside from the big brands.. you should check out Addictive Audio or Sundown as an example. Im doing 3 AA 10s in my 550 but i know their 12s are pretty effin insane and they come in 3 levels.. with the lvl3s being more than any daily driver will ever need imo.. lol

smaller brand doesnt always mean better product.

Too many times over the years I have seen smaller companies grow internet large, only to leave the customers hanging later...always, buyer beware when dealing with smaller, internet only brands.

Some are good, some are leary.

i was just saying there are pros and cons to sticking with name brands based soley on brand loyalty. Not necessarily pushing a brand.. and some of the smaller brands people mention have been around ten or twenty years and have just been perceived as smaller cause they just cater to a different market..i mean im sure you and i can find a billion people who have no idea who Morel , Rainbow, or Focal is.. and well.. ill just laugh and walk away on that note.. lol

Btw GL on the 12w3s good solid sub.. Forreal!

I'm talking more of internet only based companies.
Some have a small, small dealer data base...just beware to Joe public is all I'm saying.
I have seen many in my 22 years that have lost a ton of money due to fly by night companies.
