I highly doubt that a failed inspection would only put me without a truck for only a day or two and I have no idea why that service rep would say that.
Maybe they have not had many failures yet or maybe they have parts for a “quick” fix.

Either way I am not happy customer and even though my dealer service department is very good based on my history with them, I certainly don’t want them to fix or replace the 6.2l in my Tahoe.

I’ve had this Tahoe HC for over a year and I really love everything about it but I am seriously considering trading it in due to this situation.
My biggest concern is that I don’t think there is any difference between the 2024 and ‘25 or ‘26 Tahoe 6.2l engines.
My truck has everything but 4WD and Super Cruise. I don’t want 4WD but I really regret not getting Super Cruise.
My engine replacement was almost exactly 2 months. Half waiting on engine, half waiting on work to be done. Then they scratched the door, so added some time for paintwork. I had a Hummer Ev loaner that could tow, which got me by, but was constant charging, so I only drove the Hummer when I needed a hitch. Luckily I had a couple other cars to get me around town if I didn't need the hitch for anything.

Good news, passed the L87 recall test. Thought it’d be fun to get a new engine but I guess glad I don’t have to deal with that headache. Here’s a quick reminder, for folks with the basic 3 years / 36k miles warranty - bring those trucks in for repairs or any thing worth a look well before. At 38k, I got side tracked and finally in for them to look at the lumbar on the drivers seat that stopped working. Replacing the module .. $750. Feels like I live in this Denali sometimes so I’m fine with paying, but annoying it would’ve been covered if I brought it in a month or two earlier. Get that warranty work done well before !!
I would ask for what they call goodwill repair with it being 2000 miles over.

Parts for a quick fix? Uh, no. Following this thread the whole time, you should know there's no such thing. So you're either going to pass like most, or you'll get a whole new engine. No "fix" short of new oil or a new engine.

You're considering a trade-in [now] due to WHAT situation? You've known about the engine issues (and the recall, and the test and new oil or engine replacement) for a while now. Wouldn't passing the test or getting a new engine give you some peace of mind?

One of the reasons I am considering trading is SuperCruise.

I am not that motivated so I will try to play my position.
My HC has everything but SuperCruise and here in Florida HC Iridescent Pearl is high demand.
I love my Tahoe but a new engine installed by dealership service department is a no go for me.
Running 0-40W and extended warranty is the better option but still has me unimpressed, kinda like those guys who put miracle oil in an engine on its last legs lol!

I have no idea if they really improved the 6.2l but at least a new truck has a better warranty than the “extended” warranty they offer for the “Pass” trucks.

If I get a good deal on trade I will do that.
This is a great time to buy a new Tahoe and the only downside is availability.

Just FYI, Super Cruise requires an active subscription service to work.
...
Yes I know that and that’s not an issue for me.
It’s worth every penny as where I am in Florida almost every road I drive is compatible and I am a fan of the new technology.

My boat has the new Yamaha auto pilot and it is close to FSD, blowing my mind every time I take it out!
It’s truly amazing to a guy who has over 40 years of boating experience with some great boats.

Exactly why a failed inspection and engine replacement is a no go for me!

Turns out Monday, my appointment for inspection is forecast 15-20 N wind and 5’ seas.
I’m taking it in Monday for inspection.
Full moon in a week or so and wahoo bite is on.
If I don’t have a truck to tow and seas are calm and my Tahoe passes the world is safe.
They better not tell me my Tahoe failed and needs a new engine - it’s gonna be like pulp fiction, gonna get me some hard pipe hittin *****$, a blow torch and some vice grips and get medival on their a$$!

I’m willing to bet you’ll pass, as most of us have. Good luck!

I got my second engine recall letter today and it asks that I schedule my test ASAP. Our 2022 Denali is right at 25k so I have been planning for a visit and an oil change anyway, because my chosen oil change interval is 5k. Planning to try for late next week or maybe the week after. I will update the result as soon as I can.

"because I baby the hell out of my rig".

Nothing wrong at all about taking care of a large investment like I am sure he/she has made. I don't understand why there is a need for a quart of synthetic transmission oil, unless he/she thinks it will keep it cleaner. I would appreciate an explanation from @Mma-007.
Sorry for the late reply. I run transmission oil in my rig before an oil change to clean out any sludge that might’ve accumulated since I brought it. The oil does come out darker than what it should be so it must be doing something for sure. It’s a personal preference and in no way shape or form am I advocating it. Use at your own risk. Oil additives like “Liquid Moly, Marvel Mystery oil, Seaform” are the essentially clear ATF fluid.

I'm trying to figure out why he is adding transmission oil and changing every 1000 miles....

I gotta ask. Wouldn't the oil come out darker just because of the adding ATF?

That trans fluid is not cleaning anything out of the motor it's mixing in with the old oil which is dark and when drained of corse the trans oil is going to be darker. You are playing Russian roulette by putting that in your motor.
