It's happened 4-5 times on my 2023 Yukon Denali XL. I can use the truck on and off regular and hiway driving and the next morning go to start and "CLICK" no go. I have to disconnect the negative post for 30 seconds then use the small booster kit and no problem starts goes like nothing happened. Once or twice the dash will say check steering column. Yesterday got stuck in a major traffic jam where we didn't move for 2 hours. Did not have the 4 cyl idle turned on so the engine ran the whole time. This morning no start. Is it possible the alternator is not charging at low idle speeds. Have had it in the dealer 3 times for this and they say all good. There is only 15000 miles. Would appreciate any comments.
As an FYI my wife has a 2019 jeep and at times does not start it for a month. Never had a problem.

It sounds more like a battery problem, if not it will be if it's going dead that many times. Is there anything plugged in that could be draining it or light not shutting off?
It should still be under warranty at that age but it usually doesn't cover batteries. Some part stores do charging system checks for free. Might be worth getting the dealer to check in case it's something else. My 2017 had a defective module that drained the battery within a day or two.

the fact that you have to disconnect the battery cable for 30 seconds tells me this is not a charging issue
if it was a bad battery or dead battery all you would need to do is jump it period.
the check steering column is a clue I believe there is a issue where if the column is locked or is having problems it causes a no start. there may be a software update for it or maybe it needs to be replaced not entirely sure just going off of what I have seen reported before from memory.
as a test maybe next time it happens try turning the steering wheel lock to lock a few times and see if that makes any difference.
Otherwise I would research "check steering column" message for more info..

Steering column lock module is known to do this as well as a weak battery.

Edit: seeing others with this problem report that remote starting can sometimes fix this issue.

Also saw another owner report that it was the starter.

Possible sporadic draw on battery when engine is off? If It's under warranty let the dealer figure it out and leave it until they do. I wouldn't suggest guessing with battery replacement until more diag is done.

If your alternator is not charging your rig would die within 30 minutes of running even with a good fully charged battery installed, if you can jump it to get it running & it runs indefinitely your alternator is doing its job

That doesn't mean the alternator isn't the source of the key off drain that's killing the battery over night or the more likely scenario of a battery no longer able to hold a charge ovrrnight but your alternator is most definitely charging based on what you wrote

Pretty easy fix, the vehicle is a 2023, depending on the build date the battery is likely 3+ years old, about the useful lifespan of a battery for a modern vehicle with all the parasitic loading and the requirement for stable cranking Voltage. You could get the battery tested, but depending on the tester and the person using it, they could get a false result. If the battery checks out at over 100% capacity this is a dead give away either the software/firmware for the battery tester is wrong and/or the battery has incorrect internal resistance due to a pending problem. A battery that age should not report more than 80-85% of its original or rated capacity.

If it was my vehicle, I would just replace the battery even though I have years of electrical experience and many high quality battery testers and load testers. I could test it corrected and feel comfortable about the results, but if I was having multiple no starts, the battery gets replaced.

Chances are the battery has a bad cell or a bad internal connection.

Also note these vehicle can command the alternator off under specific conditions so you need to be careful when testing the charging Voltage so you do not condemn a good alternator.

What battery have you all used as a replacement? Just another OEM from the GM Accessories website? They have 15% off right now and I have some points to burn too.

Thank you all for the inputs. As I just wrote on someone else's post 2 weeks went out after 6 days and dead at 10.6 volts. Then went to dealer could find nothing. No draws. No codes. Then 6 days later again dead i mean dead 4.5 volts. The booster would not do a thing . Had to charge for half an hour. For the first time codes.... but only saying low battery with no reason why.
