Why the hell didn't GM have their wheelwell liners cover the entire wheelwell.

Found this BS while fixing another design flaw -

Routing the brake lines along the outside of the frame - brilliant idea !

While replacing the brake lines ^^^^^^, I thought I would also remove and resolder the ABS circuit board. I have the common problem of the ABS and BRAKE warnings on my cluster.

Now I have a decision to make :

It's a lousy photo, but the negative connector is almost completely corroded away.

Was this the cause of my ABS problem, or is it the circuit board ? I'd hate to resolder the board if it is still good - and risk making it bad in the process.

I do have another pump unit but the #s are different. I think I'll try that first, and get some stainless hardware to make it easier to remove the module if the problem remains.

Typical - a 1-day project becomes a 2/3-day adventure.

im sure you can buy a new pig tail for that. i found a guy some time back on e bay that will make what ever you need if you dont see it listed.

For some reason my maintenance log doesn't mention rear brake replacement but I know I've done it, and I want to say it was done when the truck hit around 120,000 miles. Based on the old vs. new pad comparison pic, I definitely got my money's worth!

I'm curious if you saw minimum thickness specs on the new rotor. I see them on the face of the old rotor (at least the disc spec) but did they hide them elsewhere on the new one?

You know I didn’t pay attention, but they may be on the inside of the drum. These were AC Delco silver rotors. They seem to have good feedback on Amazon so hopefully they last quite a while.

Any idea who this may have been on eBay? I’m looking to do a custom harness to extend the ignition switch harness for a project I’m trying to put together. If they can make custom harnesses or pigtails that could work out really well for what I’m doing.

i looked around for them and cant seem to find em. just pig tails tho. there are other sellers on there tho.

Have this in the "Exterior" section but thought I would put it here since I see a lot of hoods and roofs on the Tahoe's and Yukon's faded. I sanded my roof and sprayed a couple of coats of the Gloss black Rust-0leum in the Turbo can. Came out alright for a temporary driveway job. My hood was the same way but found a nice one in the junkyard a while back for $200.

Just got my 2005 Denali back on the road after a slew of repairs. Kinda snowballed "while I'm in here" kind of job.

Started when I popped a rear brake line above the fuel tank. SO that means all new Dorman SS lines. Well to change the rear lines its best to drop the fuel tank, well fuel pump is OG and it was starting to get loud so might as well toss an ACdelco module in there. nylon fuel supply line was seized to the metal line at the front of the tank. Had to cut that off and clean up the metal line. Also since im doing metal brake lines I may as well replace the rubber lines with braided SS lines and then have it all done right.

Since I had the rear driveshaft out and fuel tank out its only logical to drop the transfer case and fix my front output shaft seal that was weeping. Then since the transfer case is out, I may as well slide the trans back and replace the rear main seal that's leaking and I've been putting off for years.

When pulling the starter to get to the converter bolts, I managed to snap the stud that holds the power cable to the solenoid. So ordered a new ACdelco starter and tossed that in.

In the end the truck got
SS metal brake lines
Braided SS flex lines
Fuel pump assembly
Nylon Fuel feed line
3 seals on the transfer case replaced
updated rear engine cover with new seal/gasket
new starter

I didn't keep track but if I had to ballpark I would say ~$1000. Still cheaper than a new truck. I had a lot of miscellaneous supplies for this job. 6 cans of engine cleaner, 6 cans of brake cleaner, gallon of brake fluid, gallon of trans fluid, RTV, PBblaser, Dorman fuel tank strap bolts and J nuts, bought a few new tools to make my life easier. Top Don scanner for the ABS bleed.

Craziest thing. When I was doing my brakes last weekend, I had my hood up and as I’m laying under the truck, I hear a metallic clang and then the hood slams. One of the springs broke or popped off of my driver side hood hinge. I never did find the spring…

I'd hate to be on the receiving end of that spring--whatever it hit.
