Here's a detailed list of what I ordered and costs. I hope this helps!!

The original post in this thread was incredibly helpful for me but some part numbers have changed and some weren't listed.

I ordered everything from gmpartscenter . net (apologies to the mods if i'm not supposed to post links)

I went through two other GM parts sites and they were all HORRIBLE to deal with. GMpartscenter was so easy to deal with and I lucked out that they're local to me in Arizona at Van Chevrolet so I avoided a lot of shipping charges. I cant recommend them enough. The grill if ordered online will come with an absurd shipping cost so try to buy that local. I believe they only come in black and white but its painted from GM so no peeling issues.

The parts below take care of all of the window trim, pillar trim, mirror covers, White OEM color matched Grill, running board trim and rear bumper trim. I believe the only part I'm missing on this is the fog light trim. I ordered those over the phone and cant find the part number. The only other parts missing are the luggage rack trim, which cannot be purchased separately and you'll end up spending a few hundred bucks on those that come all black. The other annoying part thats been said countless times in these forums is regarding the eyebrow trim above the headlight. I removed mine, sanded, applied an adhesion promoter, primer, base and clear to it and then had it PPF'd. I did these parts in rattle can with the brand Spray Max. I ordered it online with the paint code and its a 99% match. I'm having the chrome trim on the handles painted as we speak with a body shop at a cost of $400 with removal, paint and install.

Window Trim and Mirror Covers - $714.74

Running Board, Rear Bumper Trim - $267.37

Grille - $366.45

Handles Painted - $400

Total Cost was $1768.56

I realize wrapping the chrome instead of replacing it is cheaper. I've had plenty of cars with full wraps and wrapped pieces and I've found that they don't last long with the Arizona sun. The value outweighed the cost for me to get OEM GM parts. I removed and installed everything (except the handles) so the labor was free.

The attached photo is just of the grill and foglight trim. I'll upload the rest when I get it back from the handles being painted.

I used this VIN 1GNSKCKJ1JR213294 its a 2018 Tahoe Premier (these parts below are not for esv, XL or suburban.. you'll have to find those)

does your rear bumper have the black trim on the new step pad you ordered ? or is it all just plastic without the chrome ?

Pull up on the lower trim and release it from the other trim piece by the mirror.
View attachment 215573

Here you'll find the same scenario as the rear door with the vertical trim piece, green buttons, and a rivet to be drilled out.
View attachment 215572

When installing the new piece, start by snapping in the two clips by the mirror.
View attachment 215574

For the upper portion, start from the outside edge of the door by aligning the nipple. Then work your way towards the mirror - pushing up to seat the trim. Pop in the two rivets and reinstall the upper and lower screws.

And you're done. Grab another beer, you've earned it.

I did black mirror caps too. I want to do the white RST grille but the white headlight trim is part of the actual headlight and the OEMs are super spendy. I suppose I could wrap them or get painted. Otherwise I'm thinking of aftermarket black headlights and a black RST grille. I'd also love to go lower but 1) I tow and 2) my wife drives it. I should also lose the giant airdam or get the police edition one. Work in progress...
Belmont, you're a Legend for this!! THANK YOU!!!

I have a '15 Suburban that I had wrapped and it's done very well. But now I have a '19 Suburban and think I want to go the RST molding route instead. This is tremendously helpful!

Anybody know what the replacement part number is for 84126996 (Rear Left Upper Molding) on the Suburbans? I know the upper right was discontinued and replaced (84126997 replaced 84502333) - and I assume the rear left replacement is 84502332, but the descriptions I'm seeing don't match the rear right

@BigBoyZ71

I don’t think they have a replacement. It’s a problem, and is so odd that out of all the OEM black window trim for the LWB just (1) is discontinued.

I’ve got all the Suburban RST OEM window trim sitting in the garage including the vertical window appliqués. The body shop I work with says they can prep and paint an OEM chrome window trim to match and be durable enough to last.

But I do occasionally search on eBay for the discontinued part number; 2 years in on that and no luck…

hey everyone, I know this thread is old, but it is still being seen by people like me that are doing this mod even to this day. I have been coming across this thread for a long time while I decided if I wanted to do this. I chose the cheap way out last year and plastidipped all the chrome door surrounds with matte black spray dip. I liked it and was pleased not spending the large $. The plastidip didn't last too long and was peeling and looking bad after a few months. I finally decided to buy the 10 parts needed (5 on each side) to do the door surrounds since GM is having their 20% off body parts for a while now. (I think that's ending soon so I didn't want to wait any longer). I made 4 different orders thru GM directly and 2 orders from eBay and an online gm parts supplier to get the lowest total price I could. Last week I did all 5 pieces on the passenger side and I love it! came out great, and with the writeup from this thread, it was pretty easy. Thank you for the walk thru!!!!
So, to get to the reason for this comment. I went to install the 2 drivers front door pieces today. Got the old pieces off and went to install the top piece. Something caught my eye so I inspected it more than just making sure it wasn't damaged. When I looked closer, I saw what looked like either chrome or metal on the backside under the black. It looks to me like it was just a wrap over the chrome part. I was pissed cause this piece is one I got from an eBay supplier and thought I was duped and wasn't the black part I ordered. I then looked at the only other 2 pieces I had off the car and in boxes (one more from the same supplier but in a gm box, and the other from gm directly). They both had the same look to me. All 3 looked like wrap over a metal part and not an actual painted part like I expected. I'm not going to remove the other pieces to inspect further, but I'd assume I'd find the same result. I get the last part tomorrow, the one from an online gm parts website, and I'll see what that looks like.
Bottom line is, if I would've known these 10 pieces were just wrapped, why the hell would I have spent $650 on parts instead of just finding a professional wrapper and saving over half, maybe even 2/3's of my $$? If your parts are still in great shape, as I assume they would be to most, just get them wrapped and save your $

PS: If I am wrong in any way, and you know for sure, please let me know and I will remove or edit this comment, but the 3 parts I looked at today all showed what I'm suggesting. The pics below are not great, but I think it shows what I mean.

Welp, i can only say sorry but GM is cheap and instead of making two different parts they made one and wrapped it…. But to their credit if the wrap is holding up good on them….sorry.
If your truck looks the way you want it tho….

I'm definitely not surprised GM cheap'd out, just surprised no one else mentioned it in all my research, that it was just a wrap. Yes, I totally agree, if it looks the way I want it, and It does, then no harm done. BUT, would've been so much easier and cost effective to just have it professionally wrapped and not remove so many components. Hopefully my comment will save some others $$.

final product (don't mind the dirty truck). After I tried plasti dip (matte not glossy) and now all new parts from GM, I will say I would definitely not do plasti dip again, and I probably would not waste almost $700 on new parts now that I know they are just wrapped. Even though I am very happy with the results, I would find a very reputable wrapper and I assume the cost wouldn't be more than a couple of hundred. Cheers everyone

(first pic you can see the difference with gm parts, front door, and plasti dip after about a year, rear door)

Looks good…

I don’t think having factory chrome window trim wrapped in black vinyl would be anything close to the OEM RST window trim pieces.

IMG_7498.jpeg

It may have a chrome backing or “core”, but the black outer surface is clearly more than just a “wrap” with how thick the black outer part is and it’s a lot more rigid too.

Sure you could probably get the window trim vinyl wrapped for a few hundred. But it’s likely it’ll get knocked up, or start to peel back after some time and need to get touched up or redone. Pay for that twice and you can get to the price you spent on the OEM trim that is a one and done solution pretty quick.

I think you made the right choice!

You're probably right (I hope) lol. It just caught me off guard when I saw it wasn't a painted part, like I think my GM black running board inserts are.

Getting ready to install the OEM RST window trim and new appliqués on the wife’s ‘19 Escalade ESV.

Just want to report that the OEM RST Black window trim pieces appear to be the same as I installed on my old ‘15 Yukon XL Denali 4+ years ago.

Some trim pieces may have a chrome plastic “core”, but the exterior gloss black trim piece is very much a hard plastic gloss black molded part. It is in no way comparable to a vinyl wrap.
