As far as the new engine goes. It’s a 5.3 with 150k miles(supposedly). Judging how the internals looked I’d say that’s about right though and it wasn’t super dirty on the inside or the outside.

Parts list:
Front/rear main seals and cover gaskets
Billet oil barbel
New pickup tube with billet brace
Melling 10295 high pressure oil pump
New oil pan gasket
New Dorman valve covers
New cam retainer plate with arp bolts
BTR truck Norris cam
BTR beehive valve springs
BTR valve seals
BTR 7.400 chromoly pushrods
BTR TK002 trunnion kit
New power steering pump
Dorman aluminum heater core fittings
Dorman metal heater core hose junction
Trailblazer vjcx converter
Need to take more pictures tomorrow

Got it fired up today! It runs alright untuned but it’s not veryhappy especially trying to idle. Was able to bleed everything and tomorrow will take it down the road to see if it’ll drive.

Well made headway today! All put back together and it actually drove half decent the whole way home. Still untuned right now so it basically just is mad when it idles but cruising is perfectly fine. I’ll try to get a video posted here soon.

Also never was a fan of where I mounted the ambient air temp when I did the trucool 40k. It would throw off the mirror reading being under the trans cooler. so while the front end was off I drilled a hole behind the driver headlight and stashed it there. Reads correctly again.

Are we just not going to talk about the black 1950? Chevy truck in the background? Love the 1969, my first truck was a 1970 C20.
Hahaha my bad. That’s a 53 6 cylinder 4 speed. Fun little truck but needs some love lol. And the blown 400sbc 64 nova is under the car cover In front of it. Maroon 69 was behind my Tahoe with a 400sbc. The two tone brown cab goes to a 80’s 4x4 frame outside. A few random projects around there lol

They were a stupid single shear design that would wallow the stud off the plate. The Chevy's had a three link rear suspension with the shock plate on the bottom of the stack. Big ole breaker bar four 1" nuts and away you went.

Couldn’t let this nice weather go to waste. Cleaned the Tahoe and starting to organize the garage a little more. It’s small so I don’t have much space after the Tahoe and my pickup are in there. Getting better at least

Those are definitely not the most fun. Just swapped the rear end on my dad’s 69 c20 and it had never been apart I’m pretty sure. The trailing arm u bolts all had to be cut off

Nice to see this thing still getting love!
For sure! the past couple years of me being missing in action was mainly me working and driving it occasionally. Kinda lost the drive to do anything to it and got back into gaming stuff. Naturally started modding controllers of course tho.

But it’s getting more love now. The recent engine swap got me excited about doing stuff to it again. My ADHD brain makes me get distracted easily with other hobbies haha

Can controllers still be modded to be slightly faster and give an advantage?

That truck norris cam is pretty sweet, about as good as it gets for a 5.3. Wild that after 20+ years of LS cams they are still finding ways to make them better. Did you get yours tuned up? Does it have a nice choppy idle?

Yeah mainly what I have done with them is add back buttons, mouse click triggers, led kits etc. mouse click triggers and back buttons definitely give an advantage in first person shooters.

I agree it is wild lol. My tuner is busy right now but hoping it’ll be tuned within a week or two. I drove it last night it’s got a real choppy idle for sure. :head3:

Super curious to know what he sets the idle too. Also if he suggests a converter or not. Seen some differing opinions but I set my buddies to 800 and I personally did not think it needed a converter.
