those gear reduction starters do have a enique sound. my 88 diplomat and 91 ram had one

the plugs where carbon fouled with one plug wire not even connected runs a lot smoother now
it did start leaking form the heater valve. undecided if i am going to replace it or just remove it
started also looking at the rpo codes pretty standard G80 locker 3.73 gearing Z71 with the trailer package
what is not standard are 2 codes that i want to assume have been replaced and is why they are showing up weird but knowing my track record with cars who knows
first is B0Z fleet incentive bob evans... sure i guess they needed or wanted some 2dr tahoes
second CZ5 country south africa... HOW DID IT END UP IN MICHIGAN and why did the bob even's company need a fleet of 2dr tahoes in south africa?
i am just going to assume these codes have been replaced and this was not there original meaning for my sanity LOL

Are you sure that's not C25 for a rear window wiper?

new brake lines came in and decided to just get a new bypass valve as rock auto has actual GM ones figure the old one lasted 28 years
for the hoses i am just going to cut the metal crimps off and just hose and clamp new lines

Also, where does the LS swap begin?
not any time soon as i have a vortec 350 with a bad crank i was going to steal the heads and rollery cam parts off of for the TBI 350
just because i do not want to mess with OBD1 it will get a carb and HEI if i do the swap so when the 4l60 goes out i can use any year and an aftermarket controller preferably i would go 4l80 if the 60 dies. . if i was to keep it injected it would get MPFI and a terminator set up.
if i was to change the engine i would go 3800 v6 with a turbo (have all the parts to make a solid 500+hp set up out of one) and make a fat typhoon out of it. before going LS just for something different as i have had a few LS powered vehicles LOL

well did not do much as weather and work but today i finally cleaned all the pine needles and tree junk from it. blowing out the fenders ect.
redid the door weather strip as i noticed it been leaking at the back of the doors the top weather strip was full of needles and also slid forward on both sides leaving a hap in the back moved it back and put some rtv to hold it a bit better on the rail
vacuumed a bit of the front interior to check the dash wiring and figure out why it will not crank and if i could jump the ignition switch.
did not do that but did fix the HVAC. it now goes into all positions and the blower motor now turns on it does seem weak even though it;s going full tilt. i think they tried to replace the motor and did not seal the box back up correctly.
and that was all about 3hrs of work. net day off i will finally get to the ignition wiring and see if the yellow crank wiring is getting 12v with the key in crank. could check at the starter but i am really avoiding going under there to see how bad it's rusted form sitting in a back yard under a tree for 5 years LOL

been a wile sense i last posted some one actually offered me money for the tahoe way more then i paid so i let it go but i am not with out a gmt400
just not a suv
got a 98 1500 for $400 unlike the tahoe it has a frame also unlike the tahoe the interior is rough and the engine needs to be replaced.
first real roadblock i have ran into is apparently the make door shells but not the window regulator mounting plate/ door frame
previous owner removed it to replace the regulator 6 years ago and just never did.
just not a suv

the sheet metal is rough but $400. going to get the starter hooked back up and just crank it over and see what the engine sounds like
already have a L31 core i will be rebuilding using 2 rods from a 305 i also have laying around and trading the 305 crank to a roundy round racer for a stock l31 crank. so far only have a total of $600 into this as the L31 and TBI 305 i have had for almost a decade and can not remember what i paid for them or what they where for

so started tearing down a 98 350 vortec i got 8-ish years ago from a suburban that spun a rod. only had 50k on it when it happened only thing i found was the pick up full of bearing so not sure what caused the loss of oil to the rods. got new oil pump and will clean out all the gallies
traded my 305 crank i had sitting around for a L31 350 crank from a circle track racer that needed it for the LT1 pistons and rods he is running in his stock class engine
not going to do much just a small clean up on the head ports. back face the intake valves, front face the exhaust valves. LS6 springs i had sitting around form when i messed with 3800s and a set of 1.6 roller tip rockers that where on the 305. and will do a bit of porting of the exhaust manifolds
measured the big end of the rods and they are not egged out and still with in spec for standard bearings. broke a ring wile cleaning the pistons so new rings it is.

Judging by the carbon deposits under the valve covers, I would wager that engine died because of poor maintenance practices. Long OCI probably did it in when the oil level dropped enough for the pump to suck air.

that actually was nto carbon but just oily dirt and dust from sitting in my garage for 11 years.

but got 4 of the 8 pistons and rods cleaned up it's slow going because it's been int he negatives and i have no heat int he garage so can only be out there for at most 30 minutes at a time
this was the spun rod still has the cross hatching form when it was honed at the factory and is not discolored torqued it down to the 45ft-lbs spec and using a bore gauge it's still round and the size it is suppose to be so i am going to run it.
now i am going to do something a lot will say "why" about but i have the parts and it will be cheaper to convert the truck to a carburetor for me... i just can not justify spending 500+ on a new spider the one in this engine shows signs of early failure and the one in the truck is full on failure.
i already have an intake, HEI, regulator, and spacer form when i was going to put a 305 in a 94 S15 jimmy 2dr i had (actually why i bought this 350 the heads where going to go on the 305) so all i would have to do is redo the cam sensor wiring to feed off the tach signal of the HEI and mount a TPS to make the 4l60e... well not happy as they never are happy but at least work-ish and i am 99% sure i also have an edelbrock avs sitting around some where
and the whole point of this build and truck is cheap and free and already have is way cheaper then a new spider or even a reman spider (which i would never run the brand new good named ones fail enough)
