took the cam out and made the mistake of having my eyes open

normally i would just run it but this engine had oiling issues

it did not damage the cam at all but the bearings are flaking down to the copper... i hate cam bearings LOL

so got the cam bearings installed and scored a crank out of a boat that was not winter stored correctly only had 79 hours

rotates nice and smooth. need to readjust the stand so i can install the cam core plug and rear main seal

standard molly rings

cam is a retrofit roller (because i am not a smart man and did not realise there is a difference between oe and retro) with 218/224 110LSA .496/.503 lift with 1.5 rockers i will be using 1.6 rollers (because it's what i have) yes i will be cutting all the valve guide out to accommodate the .529 int. .537 exh

if i where to do it again would get the oe roller so i could use the stock retaining plate instead of getting a cam button to work with the plastic vortec timing cover.

now to work on the heads

head studs and test fitting the ebay china heads to see if i need to clearance any thing and nope seems fine

carb is a edelbrock afb 750 i have had sense 2004 it's been of 4 different cars
intake is a air gap clone

distributor is an old MSD unit (random cap i had laying around) my grandpa had same with the vintage mickey thompson valve covers both came off of his '58 biscayne


i am starting to think the engine was not the issue as it spins fine and cranks fine with no noise.... gonna pull it any way at this point. but may need to find a transmission as the 60e may be doing 60e things

and yes i have discovered the vortec accessory drive will not work with the valve covers.... i rather have the valve covers. going to see if TBI accessory drive will clear.
