First one stuck buys first round of beers.
It’s a deal! We’ll go to Waterman’s.

Quick question for you: I can’t remember but are you running 18” tires? If so, what size are they and are you getting any rubbing?

Let me check when I get back to the truck but I know the wheels are 18” but I have factory size tires. No rub at all

I’m running 265/70 R17. So I have a 17” rim not 18”.
What size tire did you end up going with?

Yep, that’s the factory rim and tire size for these rigs so that makes sense. It’s also what mine currently has on it. Thanks for checking.

My new rims are 18”, and the size that matches the originals in both diameter and width are 265/65R18. And for whatever reason, the only tires they sell in that size - even on tirerack are all terrain. I could go up slightly in diameter and have a much wider selection, but I don’t know if they’ll work without rubbing.

If you haven't used it, this site will let you compare the relative sizes: https://tiresize.com/comparison/
Thank you. That’s how I figured out which 18 inch size was identical dimensionally to the 17 inch size. The question i’m pondering over is if I go up slightly in size, will I have any rubbing on the wheelwells? Ordinarily, there would be many other people who have answered this question, but these 3500s are so rare that I haven’t found anyone who’s done it yet.

I'm running 2015 Silverado 18x8.5" wheels with the 265/65-18s in an AT format (obviously, with nothing else available in that size), and they're perhaps 1/2" taller (radius) than my OE 16x7s were with the OE-sized tires. Of course the wheelwell on mine is different from yours, but I don't think you'd have any trouble with one size wider (with the same aspect ratio: 65) if you have decent clearance now.

Here's how my comparison looks. In reality my tires ended up being a little less than 1" overall in diameter.

Most cars I've had the tires up-sized one level when they needed new tires and never had a problem. Messes a little with the speedometer but not by more than 1 mph or so. Speedometers generally read a little low from the factory.

That’s helpful, Steve. Thank you. 275/65/18 would be another half an inch in diameter and half an inch wider, and brings with it many more options, including the Michelin Defender LTX and the Continental Terrain Contact. I think I’ll go that route and drive around the parking lot before I leave the shop.

Finally found a FB post from a guy with a 3500 that went with the 275/65R18 size tires on OEM wheels. I'd seen this guy's posts earlier, but for whatever reason this particular one was never in the results or I'd have answered my own question sooner. Anyway, looks like it's a workable option.

Went to my appointment at Discount Tire this morning. Waited an hour for them to clear the backlog ahead of me (all walk-ins, so why bother with an appointment?), then they told me that they didn't actually have the tires there yet and they wouldn't until tomorrow.

The guy I worked with when I got there was super apologetic for not double-checking when I first arrived, so I couldn't get angry with him - we all make mistakes. And to make it right, they refunded me the cost ($248) for the new TPMS sensors they'll be installing when I go back on Wednesday.

So, while I'm bummed to have my time wasted and not have any wheels to show for it, they did their best to make it right so it's all good and I'll remain a DT customer.

Steph and I were on vacation in Texas. Woke up with a flat. Swapped the spare on, drove to DT in Kyle Texas, 3 min from the hotel. They patched it and the manager wouldn't accept any payment. Told me to have a safe rest of the trip and dont worry about it. I did not buy the tires from them since there isn't one local to me, so it was just a dude being nice.

That’s awesome! Can’t wait to see the truck pics! This guy on FB has a slick looking truck too. Y’all are making me feel left out.

Yep, that’s been my experience too. They’ve always done right by me in a pinch. Glad they were good to you, too.

Had a meeting cancel this afternoon so I called DT to see if they had the tires and could fit me in. Sure enough they got me in and did a great job. Very happy with the ride and steering feel of these. They’re also very quiet on the highway and the clearance on the wheel wells seems fine.

I purchased a blue Denali cluster, plus the HUD display, new eyebrow panel, HUD switch panel and adapter harnesses from another member here. He used them in his Tahoe for a year and then pulled them before he sold it. I'll need to get the cluster programmed to my VIN, which I can have done through White Automotive unless anyone knows a DIY method through HPTuners or an MVI2 interface. I know I'll eventually need a HUD windshield, but there are some workarounds I can try until I need a new windshield. The original is still like new so it would be a shame to replace it.
