Brought a new (to me) Burb home

So slight update that might end up require parts. Or something...took the Burb into work this morning, and the HVAC controls didn't light up. No lights, no temps being shown, but the controls worked. Everything showed up as i adjusted and played with it on the screen, but none of the lights or displays on the HVAC worked. About 20 minutes into the drive, i get to the first stop light and notice that they had all come on within the last couple of minutes. Not sure if it was right then and there, but could've been as i think the auto lights changed their settings, and the controls all started lighting up. Curious if anyone has any thoughts on that, being that all of the controls lit up and functioned properly, just the display and back lights on the HVAC were inop

Aaaaaannnnd of course it hasn't acted up again. might have just been a fluke, but i guess something to watch. Canbus system must not have decided to give it power, just interesting that it was fully functional, just no lights or display on the controls...

Well. it was bound to happen. Honestly i'm not surprised knowing my luck. I ordered some accessories to dress up the old girl since i'm a fan of gingerbread and bad with my money. So when those start showing up, they will start being installed

Well the only thing that's shipped is the bowtie puddle lights, light up bow tie is also ordered, but on back order currently. So the bow tie puddle lights should slide into the esky mirrors just fine this weekend. Other items are being finalized with my buddy who hooks me up....those will make the biggest exterior change on the burb and help me convince myself it's actually an Escalade in disguise whenever i look at it's rear end

I'm also going to mention it here, since it doesn't seem like the vendors on this forum are all that numerous. I buy all my aftermarket stuff from DDP / GDP Dudes diesel Power and Glacier Diesel Power. I'll admit i'm biased since i'm friends with the owner, but i know they constantly get out great deals for everything, and i know there is a lot they can do for these as well. If anyone is looking for aftermarket stuff, they can hook you up. As things finalize, i'll get some pictures up for my additions. So far the Burb hasn't presented any issues, although i need to do lower ball joints at some point. They aren't bad, but they are worn and should be done, i mainly wanted to wait and see if anything else popped up with it before i sunk more money into her. Bow tie puddle lights should be here Friday i think, so i should be able to slap those in this weekend. Give the old girl some fresh class, hopefully more starts showing up soon as well

Took a whole minute to do both sides, hardest part was getting the old ones out, the tabs seemed to be over extended and didn't easily release, with either a pick or a screw driver. but they did pop out. These should work with stock mirrors or esky mirrors like i have

Well stuff for the back end shipped. I have a factory LED bowtie on order, but it appears they are on back order everywhere....which is surprising. Didn't think a 10 y/o rig would have back ordered parts. They aren't discontinued, just back ordered. I wanted the factory set up since it includes a wiring harness to jump power supply that i'm hoping doesn't require removing the headlight, everything else looks like it should be a pretty easy installation. guess i'll find out when or if it eventually ships. But Morimoto tail esky style tail lights with their back up light bar did ship, so i might get a chance to install those those either this weekend or next weekend...

While i'm thinking about things i should do, i've noticed there is no vibrator on the left side of my seat, is that due to this being an early model that did that? or is that vibrator broken? i'm also notice the seat bottom doesn't produce heat, so i'm been contemplating rebuilding the seats and getting new cushions and leather and all the internals just to get them back to like new condition

Interesting....haptic motor failure or wiring issue is supposed to set an alert which isn't appearing for me...but PN is 84017512 if only for my own future reference. I'll track dwon the correct PN for the heated seat and then probably order some cushions and debate about leather or not. Mine is in pretty good condition. One thing i've noticed is there appears to be a difference in the heated seat function for those with AC seats and those without. So i'll dive down that rabbit hole at some point i'm sure

I think the heated seat element for seats with ventilated seats is 13520660, but wokring on verifying it. the haptic motors can be found on amazon for fast and cheap, and being that i don't have an error message, i wonder if the left side one is loose in there or something, so i'm leaning towards new seat cushions for the front from the seat shop, and a new heating element for the driver's seat bottom while reusing the stock covers since they are in good shape, but i'm going to inspect them closer before ordering things

I'll keep talking with myself. heard back from a dealer while i was driving, 2 revisions on the seat heater with ventilation, and no notes even with the VIN to decide which one is the correct one.

Decided to wing it and go with 1.5" inch neck, i'll see if that was a good decision or not. And since i was ordering that, i decided eff it, and ordered new seat bottoms for both driver and passenger, and if i'm going through all the effort of swapping the foam, i might as well slide new leather on there too rather then reuse the old stuff. So i pulled the trigger on that last night, should have soem freshly comfy seats next weekend for the Suburban. Thankfully i'm taking the wife somewhere nice for thanksgiving, so maybe she'll let me just tinker in the garage on Saturday? Ordered the durafoam from the seat shop via amazon, along with new leather from them. Took a while to find it on their amazon store, but buying it there let me save 5% and use some amazon points i had racked up to drop down my out of pocket price. I'm just hoping the mat i ordered will work for me, if not i have a feeling the seat is going to be sitting out and the suburban will get to spend some time in the garage waiting for a replacement

Following to see if that is the right heater element. Even in Florida, the heated seat is nice on the way home from work to ease back pain.

I think either one should work.... 2nd design is 23223774, first design is 23170194. 2nd design has a 1" long "neck height" 1st design is 1.5" But there are no notes or specs on which one is correct, and which one fits what, even by vin. It's tear down, and inspect I ordered the 2nd design so i guess i will find out. and compare when i pull the seat apart

But from all the pictures and info i've found, they use the same electrical connections. My guess is the neck height is the piece that goes through the seat bottom and connects to the cooling fan...

The vibrating sensor in the driver seat of my old ‘15 Yukon Denali went out and it was a known issue.

It would beep and alert with red lights on the HUD, but no vibration. It was a known seat sensor issue. And that was before 40K miles to the CPO warranty picked it up at the time.

Does it just have one motor/cibrator on the right side of the seat? or two, one on each side of the seat like newer GM rigs?

Honestly I don’t know. The repair was done under warranty at the time so I never searched part #’s or got into the details.

On your wife's esky, it should be the same seat basically. Do you know if that vibrates both sides or just one side of the seat? from what i've read there should be a warning on the dash if there is an issue with the system, and i don't have said warning. but i suppose i'll find out when i tear down the seat hopefully next weekend. our 4 wheeler is going to take priority, since it decided to no longer like it's stator, and it has a job while the burb is a spare rig that i like to spend money on because i have an addiction to modifying vehicles....
