Update:

Per @Geotrash recommendations (I think it was him), I also grabbed ARP exhaust manifold studs, new oem front-diff dogbones, and a new oem transmission mount.

Told the tech I'd give him $250 to do it all while the trans is out.

Got my truck back from the dealership yesterday afternoon
Reman'd trans and t-case
Circle D 3200 installed
Trans and t-case filled with Amsoil ATF
Diff fluid exchanged with Amsoil

Dropped it off with the tuner yesterday evening. Now I wait.
Any suggestions for additional things to add/enable with HPTuners?

Guess who's back.
Back again.
Tahoe's back.
Tell a friend.

Bit lazy with the 3200 stall and 3.08 gears, so I've found my next mod.

Speaking of next mods, I ordered a 40k that will be here tomorrow. I saw a high of 217° in stop and go traffic. While this is "high", the Amsoil Signature Series fluid is rated for WELL over that, so I'm not concerned.

After doing the math, a 40k is exactly what is needed to drop that 217° to 177° at the hottest.

The formula is:
BTU=GPM*210*TempDelta

In this instance, the trans cooler lines are rated for a max of 5 gpm of flow

In my case, 5*210*40=42,000. The 40k is rated for 45,000 BTU, meaning it will actually drop that 217° to 175°.

Instead of using the thermostatic bypass that comes with certain models of TruCool, I'll be adding one of these later this year, with all new 6an lines from trans to cooler.

You only have 3.08 gears? Thought these with the 6 speed came with 3.42
Unfortunately not. The 3.08's are the "luxury" gears and boy are they lazy. LOTS of downshifting on inclines, or even to pass quickly. I wanted to get into a set of 3.73's already, but this has made that want far more pronounced.

Now I just need to figure out if I can direct swap from Silverado's, or if the rear axle tube is different.

Found this interesting tidbit today, thought I’d share:

In the February 2011 issue of Trailer Life magazine RV Clinic in response to a reader about the maximum transmission temperature allowed in a 2009 Chevy Silverado, the Tech Team had this response.

"General Motors' in-house towing team expert provided RV Clinic with this statement: The maximum allowable automatic transmission fluid temperature is dictated by the transmission oil itself. The oil begins to degrade significantly above 270 degrees Fahrenheit, so we design vehicles so that in all but the most extreme conditions, the fluid temperature in the transmission sump stays below 270 degrees F.

We allow for up to 285 degrees F in extreme conditions (i.e. towing a trailer with combination loaded at GCWR in Death Valley). But for customer usage anywhere else in the country, even at GCWR, transmission sump temperature should stay well below 270 degrees F. Above this point, certain internal components, such as seals, begin to disintegrate rather quickly. Although newer synthetic fluids can withstand higher temperatures we still recommend this (270F) as a maximum temperature. "

Anyone ever used one of these?

I'm going to do a fluid and filter change around 5k miles, just to ensure that any shrapnel that was left in the lines doesn't continue to circulate, and I'm thinking I may as well upgrade the pan while its off...

I think @Doubeleive has something similar on his truck.

I have the B&M pan on both the denali and the silverado, it's pretty much the same as the ppe just seemed like the B&M pan was better quality, I think the B&M is a tiny bit more like $370 or somewhere around there last time I looked. B&M is owned by Holly so I would check the holly website for more info.

Do you feel like it was money well spent, or just "eh"?

Extra cooling + extra capacity= money well spent

Especially after installing a TruCool 40k

Ice cold trans temps is where it's at yo!

:chewie:
TruCool 40K is going on tomorrow. I'll be doing one of these later in the year with 6AN lines from trans to cooler, to make sure the trans gets up to temp on my 25 min drive to work.

Currently I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to sell my wife the idea that I definitely need 4.11 gears now. :Big Laugh:

Did you boys plumb your 40k inline with your radiator-cooler, or just eliminate the radiator loop all together?
