What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Has anybody cleaned out their ac drain in the front? From what I see it’s this rubber thing with the right angle kinda under the accumulator?

I ran the new flexible rear ac lines, plumbed everything up, had my buddy recharge it, and I have super cold ac in the front and back of The Beast! My dog and I are happy.

Edit: I just now see the evaporator foam cleaning kit I bought…. So I look up where that ac drain line is and it’s behind the accumulator? The accumulator I just installed?

Awesome! How hard was it to replace the compressor? I might be tackling this project this winter - the A/C in the Yukon doesn't seem to be able to keep up as well as it used to, and the compressor has been a bit noisy the last couple of years or so.

Finally put the crank back in this thing, bought the sac city oil parts, and got a little aggressive on the rings. I'm waiting on a new, new set of rings, lol.
Was gonna go .017 on the top rings and .019 on the second ones. I might shoot for 16/18 this time.

Race wheels? Nice lol. They are just 2015 Silverado LTZ wheels decladded and powder coated to match the oem color somewhat. But yeah I love them.

Those are the wheels that have the plastic hubcap type thing? I've never seen them without the plastic, they do look nice!

@Rocket Man yes I did when I had everything apart, but there wasn't much to clean out. There is also another one in the back. Although my wife owned POS 2002 Ford taurus that would routinely need cleaning. Hated that vehicle for all kinds of reasons.

Ok, I was just making sure that’s it. I need to stick the hose from the evaporator foam cleaning kit in there but I’ll have to make it bend around that elbow. Just wanted to make sure I wasn’t going to stick anything into a wrong hole if ya know what I mean.

The compressor wasn’t hard. The hard part was trying to flush everything after the compressor blew metal throughout the system. The rear has to be taken apart to flush and the hoses weld themselves to the evaporator because they connect under the rear floor. I had to buy new flexible hoses, the rear evaporator, etc. and then I just went ahead and did the condenser. All my trials and tribulations are in my build thread. I did some other stuff in the process too.

Installed the new coolant overflow tank. Oh so THATS the cooking level? :p Love my spring clamp pliers, they make this so easy. Stop spending my money on tools!!!!!

Just make sure holes are clean. My drain was actually pointed down towards the ground. Did you turn yous for easier access? If I remember correctly I used an ac cleaner of some type. Kills mold and mildew.

Yes those are them. They come in 5 spoke and 6 spoke IIRC. This is what they look like with the covers on.

New rear hatch struts and Toshiba HIR1 Hi beam bulbs. Also did the 4-Hi mod. Nice and bright now!!!

The hatch is aluminum and the cheap Amazon ones are are waaaaay too powerful. First time i opened it, it flew up and busted my fixed rear hatch glass hinge. The Stabilus are what ours came from factory from RockAuto. There is a left and right surprisingly and they come up at a much better speed.

I removed the elbow and stuck the hose for the evaporator cleaning foam in until it stopped and hit the button. Of course, in keeping with my streak, the shit shot out of there into my face a bit until I could put a finger over the hole and shot the rest in.

I bought the battery Oct 2020, but she sits for weeks at a time and then sometimes only driven for short trips. So this means a couple possibilities:

• Battery was crap to start with and weakened over time
• Alternator not working well
• Parasitic draw - i've seen it at 12.2V'ish after sitting for extended periods
• Combo of above

Anywho - taking the battery/receipt back to Wally World for a replacement. Time to google how to meter the alternator and see what happens!


EDIT: I always see Mechman as the recommended upgrade. Are they a bolt in without needing a different belt? I've got the 145A. Asking for Future Matt if the alt is bad.

I've had a 240amp Mechman on my Tahoe for years. Absolutely love it with my electric fans and upgraded sound system including amplifier. Never see a drop when the fans kick on even at idle.

I know @iamdub is familiar with them. Iirc, one is 5 spoke, and the other is a 6 spoke design.
This is the 5 spoke. I don't have a pic of a 6 spoke.
