Update on No AC

so last night I got all the old junk off I’ve been struggling with the ac lines, the new ones I ordered DO NOT FIT so I’m gonna have to flush the lines and use old ones, the fittings on the new condenser aren’t the same they’re janky so I have to pray it’ll hold pressure. And I’m gonna have to rent 2 tools one for the purple compressor switch and the other for charging the system but I should have working ac TODAY!!!!! If there’s any questions about how to take it apart I guess I’m the huckleberry of doing it myself. I’m about $400 deep so far after refrigerant and stuff I should close in on $500 and AC!

Fair warning if you do any of this once you’re part way through most mechanics won’t touch it so once you start you’re too far deep.

If you talk to your mechanic some will let you remove everything then they do all the install and charge stuff I do so much stuff on my personal cars that as long as I don’t do jank stuff my mechanic can start from halfway done and I’ll save a little.

For those wondering this is what my orifice tube looks like no matter what I would’ve needed a new compressor no amount of clutches recharges or f-all else would’ve fixed it.

2nd to LAST UPDATE;i screwed up guys I messed up when installing the compressor so I had to remove this connector again and it diss-integrated, so I’m gonna be out $33 or (??$??) at the junkyard + labor at the mechanics to fix the connector. BUT the rest of the install seems to be PERFECT 11 0z (approx you can never be exact) of Pag46 oil , some of a recharge canister and BOOM it’s holding pressure for now. So as soon as I get a new climate control module switch for the front AC, connector fixed ILL HAVE AC ON ALL VENTS BOYS LESSGOOO. I’ve been suffering all summer so I could save some money and have my truck running right just need the last AC stuff, brake work (master cylinder/brake booster) and besides my minor radiator hose leak ($30) I’ll have a nice truck (ignoring my radio issue.

I’m about $500 deep + about $400 of curses $900+ that connector and switch panel = $1,*** for AC that’s brand new until the little bit of shrapnel I tried to flush out gets eaten by the compressor and blows it up again.

I will be open to any questions about how it goes together, the diagnosis process whatever, I don’t want anyone else suffering with ac problems for long like I did. I took a good amount of pictures not shown here.

Looking at that pic of your orifice tube Id say its safe to say that old compressor is junk. You will regret reusing that old drier. Its full of the tiny metal flakes that made it past the orifice tube.

Yep, based on that amount of debri I would not have reused the drier. When I rebuilt my system almost 10 years ago, I flushed the entire remaining components and lines prior to final install. It took nearly an entire day to flush and dry. Still working today.

New lines between my condenser and drier were wrong too. Reused the old one with the new o-rings and such. My filter was spotless so I kept the old accumulator.

Looking at that pic of your orifice tube Id say its safe to say that old compressor is junk. You will regret reusing that old drier. Its full of the tiny metal flakes that made it past the orifice tube.

I did what I had to do until it’s not so hot I’m getting heat stroke in my car i’m eventually gonna switch to a full oem setup new compressor and all, the lines aren’t properly flushed either. When I deal with my evaporator I’m 99% sure it’s leaking and well if you know anything about them leaking you have to evacuate the refrigerant if it doesn’t all leak out and that’d be the time to repair everything including the laziness of not doing the rear expansion valve the first time.

I Am suffering until tomorrow when I replace the broken connector I’ve been dying every day for months I can’t wait for any more parts nor do I wanna mess with anything ac until Atleast November then I would’ve mentally healed from the “***** nugget” this was

I’m replacing everything again around December probably this was more of a temporary thing so I can make it to when it’s not 11x*+ inside the thing and I didn’t wanna wait any longer for parts without ac or pay the quoted $3*** on a truck that’s not even worth that. I might run to the junkyard but considering I broke mine most likely the junkyard one would fail when I take it all apart again I’m just mentally exhausted between work and all to keep screwing with it until Atleast November. If the new connector doesn’t make the rear ac blow cold I’m selling it.it doesn’t need to be ice cold but It needs to be cool and comfortable enough to not have heat stroke sitting in it for 15 minutes on the freeway. Yes I actually had to seek medical attention a day the cabin temperature hit 124 (112 outside temp) the heat is no joke here it will be 109 on Friday.

It will if your compressor and orifice tube is original. Thats normal wear and tear. That orifice tube's screen is meant to catch that crap.
