I found the passenger side horn (high tone) wasn’t working. Hooked up a test light and the wiring was good. Unbolted the horn and tested it anyway. Um, it worked. Put it back, and it works now. Huh, whatever works I guess. Was just about to order a hi tone and add a cheap air horn, but hopefully this just works now for a while. The connector wasn’t corroded at all either. Who knows

Came home tonight after being out of town for 5 days. Yukon sat at home while I was gone. Battery completely dead.:banghead: I’ll get the charger out in the morning I guess.
Put the charger on it yesterday and initial 20 min. drive everything was good. Went out yesterday evening and on way home volt gauge started moving around and a few minutes later dropped and got service charging system and battery light. This morning started it and alternator was putting out 14.2 v while idling for about 10 min. then dropped and battery light came back on. Battery test was doing weird stuff with my neighbors tester, so got a new alternator & battery and installed today. So far so good.

The ole girl had her 300,000 birthday a couple weeks ago! Been giving her some love for the big occasion. New ball joints in the front, rear end to replace the one that's been making noise for 20k miles (now with G80!), Rustoleum'd the frame, and more to come.

Here's to another 300k.

We just got a 2 post lift at work, and let me tell you that's been a game changer. I pulled my parts suburban in, pulled the rear end, pulled it back out, pulled my Tahoe in, had the old rear end dropped, and had the new rear end installed all in about 4 hours after work.

Next week we'll be doing taller lift blocks in the rear to make up for the sagged out springs and regular cargo load in the back. Front end alignment after that, and fixing the AC.

Hopefully in the coming months we'll get into some rust repair, rock sliders, maybe even replace the carpet and some upholstery repair on the front seats.

How many amps is the new alternator? I upgraded to the 160 amp a few years ago.

160. That was only option for mine. Not sure if they made all 05 use 160 or not. Or maybe all XL or Suburbans got 160. I thought my choices were 105 or 145 in my old 03 Tahoe.

Might be an intermittent bad ground on that circuit. See where the horn ties in to ground and check to make sure it is clean and tight.

The harness has the ground in it

EDIT: never mind, I reread that and see what you mean now
For High Note horn, FSM says black is GRND. DRK GRN is "Horn Fuse Supply Voltage".

This is the description of circuit operation from the FSM...
"Battery positive voltage is applied at all times to the horn relay coil and the horn relay switch. Pressing the horn switch applies ground to the horn relay control circuit. The body control module BCM may also apply ground to the horn relay control circuit as described above. When the horn relay control circuit is grounded, the horn relay is energized and battery positive voltage is applied to the horn(s) through the horn control circuit. The
horn(s) sound as long as ground is applied to the horn relay control circuit."

Dual horn ground point is listed as the one on the left front body mount.
That one is the ground for a lot of things.

Be sure to pull out the bolt, wire brush that spot on the frame and the bolt real clean. After it is all back and tightened securely, spray over the area with Rust-O-Leum or some other protective paint/coating.

Here is the wiring diagram from my FSM.

My driver side tie rod end replaced in 2019 with a Moog part is blown out.. so that's being replaced under warranty..

Oh, and finally getting to the transmission install..

Anyone see a problem with this picture..?

 I've already reserved my rental truck.. now I have to see wtf Performabuilt is going to do about this problem. Apparently they sent a 2wd transmission instead of my 4wd I ordered. Wondering if anything else is wrong / incorrect. Either they sent me someone else's order, or they just installed the wrong output shaft in mine. This is definitely going to cause a delay in my move...

So, Performabuilt sent me the transmission intended for another "Harris" and sent him mine.. He drives a GTO apparently. So, they're sending the truck to pickup in the AM. I hope this shipping is fast AF. I don't see how I'm going to be able to move when I planned to. On a positive note, I got my power and gas set at the new place. Water, OTOH is a massive PITA. Not used to this.. In Co. it's all done as part of the contract / closing..

More time to play with the Tech 2...
ABS light came on and stayed on yesterday.

Current code:

Then I got into recent history:

And this morning, I did live data view. I was doing snapshot record. I think it recorded, but I can't look at it again until after work.

Live data showed me RF speed sensor was showing 3 MPH the whole time.
Thanks to Tech 2, I am pretty sure it is just the RF sensor needed to be replaced.

Eh... I'll get to it in the next week or so.
