What did you do to your NBS GMT800 Tahoe/Yukon Today?

Funny thing, around where I live.... You will see nice Escalades, Range Rovers, Bentleys, etc,
All with a coating of a white dirt all over the sides & rear. But it's a 'badge of honor'....
I'm in Palm Beach / Wellington, where it is an Equestrian / Polo area....
Dirt roads where these people own nice horse stables.....

I am often jealous of any TYF members in VT!
You'll find a smoother ride on just about any dirt road in VT, than most paved roads in MA...
It is actually a nice ride when you finally get off the blacktop into VT.

I guess washing dirt off more often is a small price to pay compared to front end parts or replacement wheels and tires.

Oh yeah I remember the insects on the east coast. That’s one of the things I’ll never forget about my visit over there. That and the humidity. Neither are much of a problem here.

Around here, some places, mosquitos are annoying...... then other places ( fortunately like my area), there is hardly a problem....
When neighborhoods are diligent avoiding stagnant water , ....no problems....

At least FL has mosquito control districts, who who are allowed to get out there and spray!

We're on our own in MA. They won't even spray the eco-friendly stuff made out of garlic oil!
Could be lack of money.
Could be, not harming mosquitos taking priority over our health, getting EEE and other diseases.

Either that, or they just don't want the neighborhoods smelling like an Italian restaurant (or NJ @Tonyrodz) ... I think I'd actually kind of like that! Freshen things up a little around here.

I researched out door lighting......
2 main facts: Heat & Frequency of light.
Mosquitoes are attracted by heat ( your body type & light bulbs-heat)...
LED bulbs are cooler, and the color range is IMPORTANT.....
I used to use regular florescent tubes in my garage-ceiling.... THE NATS and Moths !!! awful!!
I changed to LED-48" tubes with a selecting switch on the end: ( 6500K-daylight)...
Not one nat or bug.. no bugs!! Mosquitoes & nats do not see the that frequency of light & the bulb is little heat.
( Just like we can't see infra red, most bugs can't even see LED 6500k "daylight" )
Use similar lighting for your outside bulbs.

..... If you want to avoid these buggers where you are sitting outside.......
Just consider: These bugs are not as smart as humans.... You can have a screen around you, but not above you... Bugs go straight to where the attraction is... But they are not smart enough to fly up & over a screen...

Also yellow "bug lights" still attract the other bugs.....

( keeping decorative lights on around the home over night.... ( A no-no)....
Termites are attracted to those lamps, and land on your walls / eves....
.....and no more sweeping off the eves/ corners of walls from bugs making a mess!!

Decided to go ahead and order a new upper bumper cover from GM while the Tahoe is in the shop for the rust repair. My current one has a nasty gash in the driver side from a caring neighbor (no longer live in that neighborhood) that hit it and didn't bother to tell me about it. Can't beat the quality and fitment of OE replacement parts.

Just finished the dreaded heater core tee connectors. Man I hate doing that job. The Y connector down on the intake hose was leaking so decided to do it all at once. The white connector was ready to break… it ripped in half during my struggle to get it off. Side note… does anyone know how to get these kind of hose clamps off in the second pic? Not seen them before.

Those clamps are hard connections you cannot remove, if I remember correctly. You might need to find an OEM replacement for the entire assembly.

Yeah the part came as the whole assembly. The new Y connector is aluminum so that’s a nice plus.

( BTW)..... I lived in 'Olive' ( above Lincoln Ave on E Buena Vista Ave)... across from the school, back in the '80's...

Grille and light swap.

I was thinking I would rather have more of an old-school look for my rig.

I wasn't sure I wanted to spend big bucks only to find out I didn't like it.
So, I worked out an even swap with someone for what I had.

I will need new light assemblies soon and may pick up a grille in better condition down the road, but I think this works.
I really like it! This was a no-cost experiment, so that is a plus.
