How old was he?

15
And he had a condition that caused him to slowly waste away.
That picture was taken when he was about 10.

His little sister had just passed away about a year before that picture.
She was really bad, blood coming out of her mouth due to a gland issue that's linked to the condition.

This is the day we picked both of them up,

The little striped girl in the image, she would announce her arrival as she entered the room.
Looking straight up, and "Meeeeoooow!" while shaking her head around so everyone knew she arrived. :)

The black one, he was very much my cat.
Both very talkative and would respond to you talking back.
Weird cats.

RIP little guys.
I'm sorry to hear about your little buddies. I don't know which is worse--watching them slowly waste away, or just losing them suddenly. Well, I guess if they were slowly going, you could just love and spoil them, make their last days as comfortable as possible. Either way sux.

With the little girl, that was sudden.
we had one day to say goodbye.
It was hard o n the wife, that cat liked to sleep on her head. :jester:

Doc gave her some pain meds, and she was on top of the world for that last day for us to say goodbye to her.
Later I found out that the meds she gave her was what was supposed to be given to her before the "shot".
for the "shot" I watched her cringe in pain....

I was not pleased with the doc, I pretty much ran out of there.

The black one, yeah I knew it was coming.
and watched him get really bad a few months before this.
It was pure selfishness that I didn't have him put to sleep before that.

But it gave me time to prepare for it.
I don't think it helped much.

I didn't do what I needed to do it until he was knocking at deaths door, he was in massive pain that last day.

Knowing now how this works, I told them about last time.

I had the doc give him lots of meds...
I told the doc that I don't plan on going out "sober" that cat isn't either.

Little guy pretty much looked up at me, purrd and then laid down.

For the "shot", yeah I made the wife hang out with him.
I did her cat, she gets to do mine.
That's the deal.
I get pretty attached to furballs, but I always get their "big personality" to come out.

We do this thing with them, holding their tail like its their hand since kittens.
Always has a calming effect on them, so I had her hold his tail until he passed.

Me: drove home doing my best to see.

Anyways...
Two years, and i'm still a ***** about it.

I have a paw print of my cat, I still can't even look at it.
You can see how frail he was in the print.

anyways, I think that's enough of hijacking your pain with my own.

Damn that sux. I'm amazed how much these little guys work their way into our hearts. Feel free to post about your little furballs all you want.

Sorry about your dog dang that sucks! Your truck then your dog, that's rough.

I completely forgot about the fuel trims issue. Truck has been sitting since the whole rearend issue. I don't think my 03 has the egr on it.

My junk yard rear end was under $300. Was really easy to swap too, just a PITA to get from junk yard to my house. Luckily a friend borrowed me his truck. The 10 bolts are all over the place for sale. Can even find them on craigslist. I wish I had spent a few extra $$ and got a 14 bolt semi float. I think they made some with mounts for springs instead of the truck leaf springs and the bolt wheel hubs.

It was SUPER easy to swap too. I didn't even have to get under the truck except to unbolt the brake line before disconnecting suspension. Guy at junkyard showed me how to do it the easy way haha.

If you get a used one, grab a dial indicator and check gear lash, should be good, but worth checking before you throw it on. I have the specs somewhere.

Luckily you're in the dry desert air--salt city here.

The 2nd muffler came today. @iamdub do you have a pic of your dual muffler setup all welded up? I already know I'm gonna need to show the pic to whomever is gonna weld it up.

These should be sufficient. I did weld that cross member back in.

It looks really crooked here, but that's just cuz the driveshaft is angled downward so much from the rear end drooping since it's on a lift:

That cross member seems so flimsy I've seriously considered removing it, think it's really necessary? I guess it wouldn't be all that hard to chop it out completely and build a simple bolt-in replacement out of some strong.

This is how I know y'all be getting too old and stuff.

Serious question, tho....instead of two mufflers why not just put cats back in and run a more stock exhaust setup if you're trying to quiet it back down??

It's definitely nothing majorly structural. That's why I had no qualms with slicing out that section to make the exhaust job easier. I thought I was gonna have to notch it for clearance, anyway. But it went back in as it came out.

I don't know if replacing it with a stronger one would have any benefits. They design these things to have crumple zones or even just have a specific amount of flex in certain areas and this may be one of them. Or, it's just to give the front of the fuel tank a ledge to rest on until the straps are tightened as well as a place to mount the FSCM.

After spelling out those thoughts... Fcuk it. Replace it with a stout one if you want.
