I got the DIC!! I read someones post on the DIC.. Funny stuff..so yes, its going to get the DIC.. Im going to cut out the hole in the aluminum panel, want to keep as much as the PPV look as possible.. at the same time I want it to be nice inside.. for example, changing the cigarret lighter outlet to double USB chargers. what else do you use these CL outlets for if you don't smoke... or want any one else smoking inside either..

Yeah the majority of us are middle aged adult children........so DIC jokes are funny to us

Thanks for the heads up... a couple of days ago, I purchased the GM "Leather" interior from a Suburban in a salvage yard, believe it was a 2012. Didn't think of looking at the connectors.. Have not started the interior teardown/build yet..

If I remember right the rear seats are different from a tahoe to a suburban. If the connectors are not the same I would just swap the foam and leather not a terrible job only hard part I ran into was the back plastic panel you can bend the hooks at the bottom.

Welcome from South Florida! Looks to be in very good condition.

Spoke to a Florida Highway Patrol Trooper at Lester's Diner in Fort Lauderdale a couple of years ago. He said all their vehicles are serviced on schedule at the dealer. BTW I do NOT recommend Lester's Diner on State Road 84.

Haven't eaten there in twenty years, guess Lester retired! LOL

The carpet and rear seats are not the same Suburban to Tahoe.

Twenty years ago Lester's was good. Management changed and the place has gone downhill every year. Now when I am the area I go to the Old Heidelberg on 84 or Flaingan's on Davie Blvd off I-95. Both excellent.

We've been going to Old Heidelberg for what, about forty years! My folks go more than we do, they're only 90 minutes away. We had their anniversary dinner there last August. We were going again but my father just got out of the hospital and is recovering.

Flanigan's is always great, when I used to drink, I drank with the old man sometimes at Piranha Pat's on Commercial or Atlantic, can't remember anymore. All of the older restaurants have a sub-name that the locals refer to them, the one on the beach in Deerfield is Flanigan's High Tide for example. It's tough to go there when the Whale's Rib is right next door! All of the locations since about 2000 do not have special names anymore and they stopped taking my free dinner cards! LOL

Got the Tahoe Back from paint.. Looks great.. Rainy day though!

Will work on the engine lifter noise next.. is not that loud but annoying, can't enjoy pressing the throttle down fully..

Learn from my mistake check your airbag connectors (turned a 1 day job to a 3 day job) in the world of GM trucks and SUVs not all airbags are the same, even pulled from the same year truck. See if you can test the seats plastic gears are known to break. Any questions on seats PM me your vin number.

For replacement gears highly recommended this site ordered power folding motor and gears and have worked great. Also ordered power seats gears and billet heater core tees.

I got two options, 1. Short out the airbag connector with a resistor and leave it unplugged so it won't show on the dash board as a fault. 2. swap out only the top of the seats.. leave the airbag like it should be, I just don't know how difficult or if I need special tools to to this swap.

Today I got to work on my lifter noise, took the valve cover off, used carb choke cleaner.. Worked great! knock is almost gone, I would say 90%.. probably should have used more carb cleaner. here is the you tube video I followed to do this.

Will follow up wit an oil change and add Marvel Mystery oil at 20% and it should be gone 100%.

I did 4 at a time, followed instructions in the video.. all good! btw I'm not a mechanic, just like to work on these projects..

Main issue since your Tahoe has airbags and the seats you bought do not have them. The issue is the airbag seat is made a creation way so when the airbag blows the seats rips or the thread used breaks away real easy. They even sell airbag seat covers for this reason. Have to ask yourself will you be driving this car only or will you have wife/Gf/significant other will your kids or grandkids riding in a seat without a side airbag in the seat. Also have to think if your auto insurance find you removed a safety device and someone is injured based on this they might denied coverage (just overthinking it).

2 things before you begin this 1. careful taking the back panel off the seats the bottom hooks/tabs bend easy. 2. Airbags are dangerous you are dealing with a explosive device, Make sure to unplug battery and cycle the key couple times and touching anything metal to discharge yourself before unplugging the yellow connector (all it takes is a 9 Volt battery to set it off). Then when swapping the airbags touch something metal before handing the airbag cover the airbag connector in electrical tape, Keep airbag away from your face, place the airbag face up on wood or anything that will not conduct electricity.

If you dont mind-just ballparking the cost for a respray. Mine has several Knicks and scratches that got touched up with gray paint! WTH but why-the truck is white....SMH!

Nice paint job! Can I ask what shop did the work? Had another vehicle awhile back and had Bumpers Auto Body in Pompano repaint it. At the time [10 years ago] they were excellent also.

It's a small garage in Davie, by the Hard Rock Casino.. I've k known the guy for more than 10yrs.. when you are ready, let me know and will send you his # so he can quote..

Soo, I did contact the upholstery guy I usually go go for seat repairs.. He told me the stitching is the same on all seats, the nylon mesh and the rip on the foam are what guides the bag out on impact. So I went ahead and took the airbags out of the old seats, placed them in the new seats along with the ripped foam.. had to drill new holes on the metal support to fit the airbags, the new seats did not have those holes cut out. Could not get the nylon mesh since it is sewn into the old cover itself, so just left it like that. I feel it will be safe , the airbags will pop when they need to with out problems, if I would have left the old foam, the bag would have nowhere to go when it did pop. Took me about 6 hours 4 for the first seat (tinkering, Being careful), then the second seat was much easier, 2 hours, fixed the lumbar support that was damaged.. Thank you for the video, it was very helpful.

There are two ways I think you can go about a respray.. the cheapest would be to go to Macco and get it from them.. The second would be more expensive since my paint guy likes to take the car apart in order to paint all the nooks and crannies! Macco would just put tape all over what doesn't need to get paint and just paint away.. and they guarantee it.. which is the best part for the simplest paint job.
