I had mine done the other day. My service writer asked if I was waiting in the lobby, or leaving it? I asked how long? He said maybe an hour, maybe a little less.

My wife was waiting for me outside in her car, so I told him I would leave it. She would have been a little irritated had I sent her home empty handed.

Less than an hour later he called to tell me it was ready. I waited a few hours before I asked for the ride back to the dealer... :)

I got the letter about the recall a few weeks ago. I was aware of this recall and registered for the recall several years ago (2018?). Finally got over to the GMC dealer yesterday.

When I dropped my '07 Yukon XL Denali I waited for it to be done. Nothing in the letter nor was I told that there any chance of them cracking the dash. When they completed the job, they wrote on the service ticket that the dash cracked. I saw that written, went out to see my Yukon and there was the crack I think we all have seen pictures of (upper left corner of the passenger side airbag cover).

I spoke with the Service Manager, he indicated that there was a disclaimer in the recall notice. I stated that I was not made aware of the "POTENTIAL" for this damage "BEFORE" I authorized the work. Service Manager indicated that he would call "CORPORATE" and let me know what they say.

About an hour later the Service Writer called me a a tried to tell me that the crack was there "BEFORE" they did any work. I told him he was incorrect and that they damaged my dash and I was never made aware of the potential for damaging the dash BEFORE they did the work, never had the chance to say Yes, proceed, or No.

The Service Writer is trying to get out of this by stating that there is a disclaimer in the recall. I was never made aware of this possibility and given the opportunity to make a decision if I wanted to "potentially" have the damage to the dash pad!

I tell every one of my customer's before the work is done that GM is NOT responsible for any cracking while performing this recall or if we may cracks worse. You can have the recall done or you don't have to have it done. But I have 40 people on a waiting list that have said YES and not worried about cracks.

I hate to say it but if the dash cracked from this procedure, it was just a matter of time before it did it on its own because it must be real brittle. The airbag removal isn’t ******* the dash at all. My 07 Silverado, same year as your Yukon, had an extremely brittle dash that broke in pieces when I tried to repair the cracks in it. You might see if they’ll sell you a new dash at cost, and replace it yourself. It isn’t terribly hard. Good luck.

That is what my issue is, was not informed BEFORE the process.

Now they are trying to lie and say the crack was their BEFORE they did the recall.

Not yet. I need to call them and schedule. Does anyone know if they touch the radio when they pull the dash?

They don’t pull the dash, just the airbag portion unsnaps and comes out the top. There’s a couple 10mm bolts that come out after the glovebox door is dropped all the way open, then there’s the wire plug and then you just reach up under the dash around the edges of the airbag cover and unclip the tabs while pushing up on the airbag. The module with cover attached comes out of the top of the dash. I can pull one in 10 minutes tops.

Got my Silverado done yesterday !!

Truck went into service bay at 3 PM(Service dept waiting room had a large window showing service bay area) and I was signing papers at 4:45 :chewie:

Since it was already in service I also asked them to do a 27 point inspection and they gave me a free wash:headbang:

Another example of "Good ole" Texas service

most likely AFM failed did it have any codes besides the P300x code?

i.e coil, fouled spark plug , bad wire vacuum leak, clogged air filter etc...
