Need help with tires and understeer!

Hey guys! I have a 2009 Yukon Denali and have the 285/45/22 tires on it. Stock suspension. This thing has horrible understeer. Was wondering what the best tires you guys are using. I do have snow and rain to contend with. I love my nokian tires but they burn up way too fast since I use them all year round. Anyone have any thoughts on the best tires to help with my problem or know if the best all around tire to use? Thanks!

If you drive predominantly on asphalt surfaces, lots of folks here run the Michelin Defender LTX tire. They're good for 70,000 miles, they handle nicely, and they are very quiet. These tires have easily handled anything that NH weather can throw at me.

If you do some, or a lot of, off-roading, there are other tires that folks here prefer, and they will chime in with their recommendations.

Also, if you nave not had a wheel alignment recently, you may want to get one at the same time that you purchase your new tires.

Ok well first of all the alignment is perfect. Auto technician here and I check it all the time. My driving habits are highway and around town. Never do mudding or anything like that. Maybe 5% gravel roads. But...I do drive it like I stole it. I am extremely ******* this truck. I just hate the horrible understeer on this truck. Even getting on the expressway ramp at a 15 mph turn that tank wants to go straight. Pretty scary! I hate the alenzas and usually run snow tires all year round but they just wear out too damn fast! I had the 20” on here and they sucked. The 22” rims made a hell of a difference in the way it handles and rides. But the 22” tires are pretty worn and need to get a new set. Tires are not cheap and wanted to make the best decision cause you guys drive the hell out of these trucks! Lol.

Has anyone ran the nitto terra grapplers g2 in the snow and rain? Cause on dry tires are tires. But wet and snow is where I want it to do well an shine. I am hoping and praying to move out of Hellinois soon and get in the south.

I've ran the Nitto 420's for a few years now and have been very happy with them, though I do only run them in the spring and summer. I have a set of Blizzaks that I have hard mounted on steelies for the winter.

Are you sure your toe in is on the low side of specs? Push(understeer) is alignment 1st, Sway bars/ springs 2nd. Designed in so it doesn't swap ends easily (spin). Check out PnwVietvet and Hellwig Bars.

IF you are running "winter/snow" tires in weather over 35*... They will
SUCK big time... the tread is designed for cold temperatures only...
So whatever all season tire you choose will be a huge improvement over
a winter tire 8-9 months out of the year

Greetings Jeff! I’ve been running the Duratracs summer and winter up here in MN for several years and still have good amount of tread left (haven’t been driving it much the past year though). Great grip in the snow. Took it off road a few times and hooked up well in my opinion.
