theres a rental tool for the fan, large wrench and a another long tool with two little rods coming off it, they go into the pulley to hold it, then you do the old push and pull deal on the two tools.
or you put that large wrench on the nut and swing a BFH at it. how i got my last one off.

Lol, what you guys sayin'? Lots of doodads in dere? It was getting dark when I threw all that together, I said f* it lol! Seems to be my mantra lately.
I thought the fan was reverse threads til I yt'd this video--
Put a piece of pipe over a big crescent wrench or go get the loaner tool. You need to make that thing your *****.

Once I wedged a wrench with a long piece of pipe between the frame and steering box I think. Then I used the starter to turn the motor over thus breaking the fan free. It's been a long time and I genuinely can't remember if that worked but I still have the giant crescent wrench with the handle ground down to fit whatever size pipe I had at the time.
They are not reverse threads. They’re normal- righty tighty lefty loosey. Are you sure you were turning it in the right direction?

I did according the their video--so I was wacking the wrench to the left.
Did you have vice grips or a c clamp on the water pump pulley so it can’t spin?

I wacked the hell of it a few times. Only had a reg hammer tho, no BFH.

. I tried using a big C clamp that I had--didn't work.Gotta get one, very useful for different occasions!
And if you have efans ready to go, now would be a great time to put them in. You could run a ground to them until you get it tuned. That’s what I’m currently doing

I follow this guy. He has 2 3rd gens and a Z71 NBS. Here he's doing some frontend work--he redistributes the grease and adjusts the steering box--
Steering box adjustment starts around 5:30 into the vid, and grease redistribution is done before that--lol--Maybe I should've went from underneath like he did. For a NY truck, it's amazingly clean underneath.

Let me rephrase that...
Mine came loose pretty easy but I wire brushed the stud and soaked it with penetrating oil a few times first. I used an allen wrench instead of a ratchet and was able to get it. I don’t think I went much past a half turn on the adjuster.
