It has to go out when the courtesy light goes out or else you’re not connecting to it. Ground it to one of the grounds in the door harness, connect the power lead to the power lead of a courtesy light and it will go on and off with the courtesy lights.
That's my next option, I will try that. Ground the wire from the lamp on it's own and run a lead to the courtesy lamp.

Installed 1 inch body lift. The next steps - lifting front and rear bumpers.

Also, building my test bench:

yes that would be the way to do it, same if you added turn signal led mirror glass, just run a single lead and the ground goes to the door frame.

My guess millage reprogram

Those are actually older pix, now the bench has an ECM, BCM, TCCM and cluster.

I've done milage reprogram several times just by soldering off the flash memory chip and changing the values right there. U don't need all this set up for milage reprogramming.

My goal is decyphering Class2 messages and communicating with the car. Also, I plan to install 2 speed Transfer case with a low gear and lock out of Hummer H2 or Tahoe with NR4 option, and I need to make the TCCM work with my vehicle. I am half way there, the TCCM actually shifts to Low-Lock, but it I've got a "Stability disabled" message on the cluster, and I need to figure out why. The Tech2 shows that Stability actually enabled, so I suspect it's a different calibration in EBCM for escalades end Tahoes (both with Active brakes JL4 option).

On a side, I made a clone of my PCM, so if I destroy mine, I have a spare. I used PCM Hammer. It is good to the point that HP Tuner is happily writing my saved calibrations to the new PCM using my current 1 vehicle license.

I also try to teach BCM to do new things, like fold the mirrors when the alram locks the car. I learned the message sequence that DDM (Driver Door Module) sends to BCM to fold the mirrors, and I, with a help of a memer of GM Nation forum, decoded some of them, but there are still gray areas there. It will keep me busy and entertained for 2021 for sure.

Another usage of this bench - cluster repairs and LED conversions. I just plug a cluster or steering wheel switches using factory harness, don't need to wiggle with separate wires to test if all LEDs or stepper motors are working

My old cluster from my car:

My current cluster in the build stage. Note, this is 2006+ cluster (PRNDL indicator is different on 2006 and up models), but my car is 2005. I picked up this cluster at junkyard in pieces (laterally, the PCB in one car, the plastic case in another car), and convinced the cashier that I am picking it up for experiments and learning (which is 100% true), so got all the pieces for free.

Wife calls me this morning and tells me the hvac is stuck on front only so I figured it must be the actuator, I just went out and hooked up the tech2 to verify and sure enough it wont change from front heat no matter what and the tech2 won't communicate with the HVAC, so I checked and pulled all the fuses and put them back in and walla it's working again  figures I touch anything and it starts working again:893karatesmiley-thu

How come we're not seeing any threads on the Vic :D?
I looked briefly in the section where the build threads are and couldn’t really find any non GM ones, I love this forum when I had the Caddy it’s a great group of people, I’d gladly do a build thread on the Vic if whoever is in charge of this forum gave me the ok to do a non GM build thread
