Curious as to why you didn’t go with a double chain- clearance issues I’m assuming?

yea you need to clearance the oil pump and i think space the sensor in the front cover out. think this was just a cheap part/shoulda been replaced after thrust bearing problem deal. i am 100x happier with the fit on the new timing chain, even since the very first time i got the engine

Whats the thingy between the gear and pump holding the chain on OUR motor?

its supposed to keep the chain engaging the gears further out... as in if there is a lot of slack and the chain is allow to go towards the center between the gears it could jump a tooth or bind or something i guess. some engines use this style... my stock 6.2 used an actual tensioner on the chain. i bought it in case putting on a brand new chain still had a bunch of slack for whatever reason. i dont think itll really hurt anything since it will not even contact anything

My 6.0 doesn’t use either, it just relies on a tight chain which seems to work fine.

It back together and runs. Threw some br30 break in oil in it, been moving a case of it around since I got the motor. They told me to use some VR1 so I never put it in.
Going to change it out this weekend after another day of driving.

A little reflection I guess....but had the turbo not shit itself i would have prob driven it till the timing chain broke

Crawled under it to drain oil, drain plug was just hand tight :angels2: lol.

Oil looked great tho, no chunky stuff, no glitter. Threw in the normal oil and new filter. Turbo does seem to spool faster also, those bushings being all ate up could slowed it down
