I installed a backup camera yesterday. This is to go with my Sony XAV-AX5000 radio. Routing the cable is always a bit of a pain in the ass. I decided to replace the subwoofer while I was at it. I followed a forum recommendation and got an Image Dynamics 8" sub. It fit perfectly. Next on the short-list is to install resistors on my brake lights so I can put the LEDs in. It's only about 30 mins of work, but my motivation is a tad low.

I decided to finally pull the trigger and order new seat coverings as well as the foam insert. The Seat shop is running a 20% off sale. It came to ~$450 for everything on the driver's seat. This one looks like it will be an adventure.

Once I saw your post, went ahead and ordered my driver’s seat bottom and new foam. Thanks for the tip on the 20% off sale. I did my Tahoe seat a couple years ago. It’s not too bad, a couple hours. Just take your time and it will go fine. Their videos help a lot.

I worked outside almost my whole life, and I don’t like it when it gets below about 40. It’s ok if you only go out for a bit but when I had to work 8 hours a day in it, well...f that. The worst is when it’s 40 and raining. My hands have shit circulation so they turn blue, then white after awhile. And hurt like hell. There aren’t gloves made that I could hold small screws etc and would keep my hands warm. All the “grip” type thin gloves seemed to make my hands even colder. It’s part of the reason I think I’m done with that shit. F the cold lol.
Taking its toll on you after all those years of hard work. My last job it got to 70 below. And I be out working in that shit. There’s ol timers that have been working up there for 30 years , have no idea how they can do it.

I personally hate the cold. I’d rather sweat my balls than freeze them. But money makes you do crazy things lol.

I converted my brake lights to LED with the resistor installation. It's a little more crowded in the barn door tail light area than the lift backs. I also discovered my 3rd brake light isn't working. I ordered a new one. Yet another thing that is different on the barn doors.
Any plans for aftermarket ? I don’t think they have any options for barn door 3rd brake lights. I’ve been trying to peer pressure @Thatsquishykid717 to do something different for a 3rd brake light

I found two options on Amazon. One was clear LED and the other was smoked LED. I have smoked tail lights so I went with the smoked 3rd.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YZTM4TC/

Looking at the similar items turned up several more. Not much variety, but several options. I went with this for the color and the fact that they have the connector included.

That one looks good.

I'm tracing down an intermittent battery drain and, in the process, noticed that the push button on the gauge cluster doesn't activate the mileage display when the truck is not running. I keep mine in the garage with the driver's window down, and can reach in and push the button, but no mileage display comes on. I did have my cluster re-done with stepper motors, tranny gauge, and LED backlights, so there's that.

I know that the clusters can cause parasitic drain but mine's not doing that.

So, a question for those of you who have a '03-06 GMT800 with a standard cluster... does your button activate the mileage display if you press it while the truck is "asleep"?

I have a rebuilt Esky cluster, done the same way as yours and mine doesn't do anything when it's off either. I know you said a standard cluster, but I'm giving my .02 :D

Thanks, Tony, I suspect it's just "the way it is" but will await other responses, if any.
So you leave the window down, let the truck lights timeout, then reach in, and push the mileage button..?
