Is there a way to open only the glass on rear hatch of 08 Denali?

I have googled and read the entire manual and cannot find a way to open just the glass of the rear hatch instead of the entire door... Is the glass handle just there for looks?

Hi Hannah, there are two methods. First there should be a button on your fob. The right one, not the bottom.

Second, there is a secret button to the right of the license plate. It's a rubber covered switch that does wear out, so yours being a 2008, it may have fallen off and needs replacing. This video shows where it is and how easy it is to replace:

Awesome! Still learning new buttons and accessories for this rig even 2 years into ownership!
Thank you James! I must have a replacement fob that doesn't have that button.
Thanks for the tip on the hatch button though, mine is in fact missing so we work on replacing that.

You could always use a BFH if you get real frustrated!
Ahhh very effective method there for sure, used it a few times on the tuff truck.
However... a little more of a permanent method than I was looking for in my daily with snow coming soon.
Thanks though!:D

Yea, RA is a great source for parts if you can wait. Did you use the RA 5% discount code? Here is one you can use and can still apply to order as long as not shipped yet. They have "help" info about that. There are threads here that RA supplies discount codes to all of us.

I just changed one on Lola. Watch a video or two first for some tips, it’ll take about 5 minutes to change it.
Yep! Already watched a couple videos, looks pretty simple! Kind of already wishing there was more wire for the clip, it kind of looks like a pain not being able to pull it out farther but that video that @swathdiver posted on the first response had a pretty good pointer to help with that.

No biggee, it would have only saved you $.65 for a $13 part.

Here are the two current RA 5% discount codes and their expiration dates:

153449072131744462

Expires Nov. 29, 2020

155733926131744462

Expires Dec. 27, 2020

When you use them you just type the code number in where the spot is for "Where or how did you hear about us".

Periodically RA will come on the forum and give us the latest discount codes. That would be under "TYF Supporting Vendors".

Owners manuals are available to download for free in .pdf format.

They'll have all the info on all the buttons and controls in the vehicle

Appreciate that but, as stated in my original post, I did reference the manual I have and did not find anything. We got it figured out though, my button is missing and replacement is already in the mail! Thanks!

Although I really appreciate you going above and beyond... I do not have a stock FOB and as my hatch spot just a had a hole, I was unable to locate a button to open the window. I was not aware that a button would just fall out like that.
So in this particular case the manual did not help me open the window.

PS. I would have thought this forum was to help out fellow gmc/chev/cadillac owners... not try to make them feel stupid?

The one that got me, was I couldn't figure out why my lift gate wasn't opening. Come to find out, the overhead switch is a rocker switch, that you can turn off the lift gate.

I did find that out when I was going through the manual, something I didn't know previously either!
