HA! $1.9k? The insurance companies are hurting too apparently. I’d have it repaired, collect diminished value as CarFax is going to hang you out to dry on the value. Sell it after a full blown pro Resto detail is completed.

It needs a new hood, fender, both bumpers and the hit to the rear 1/4 must be repaired correctly or they’ll try to slap it with filler to get you on your way. By the time it’s repaired it will look stunning with the entire truck is cut, buffed and the interior taken to Sano level clean.

New black paint on both bumpers, the hood and replacing both headlights will bring top dollar. That’s where the eye falls on black trucks. The smell of Pro grade interior detail products sets a hook for buyers. Hate to say it but sell it when the market is high and buy up in into a nicer replacement. You know how to sniff out a deal, unfortunately it’s just not a convenient time to deal with it.

With your intuition of tracking issues, possible harness damage and interior bits needing attention I believe you’re aware enough to not be taken advantage of and be made whole, but more likely, better that before.

I think Kevin’s rig only took a hit in the rear passenger side corner. The picture showing front damage was of vehicle of the a-hole that hit him.

Dimished value is a must, for sure.

So I was wondering how the rear end took a hit, figured it out after photo review and tire size review, 26" tall tire will skid right under the quarter and damage on his shows a decrease in damage about the spot where tire on tire contact was made, so now things make sense to me.

Insurance company did a "virtual" estimate, 1900 bucks, I emailed back saying what his estimate didnt address.

So Im having it towed to a shop, going to pay for them to tear it down and get real $ on things. At this point, trans is screwy, rear end bent, I don't know if I want to actually keep her now even if fixed right. My experience has always been, vehicle is never the same after stuff like this. I am **** when it comes to how one drives.

1900 bucks is a joke, you need to request replacement of the quarter panel and the use of oem parts. Don't settle for less.

I agree, $1,900 is very low. It cost me $1600 just to replace the front plastic cowl on my 2007 Denali back in 2010. I was expecting you to come back and say they offered you $3000, which would have been low for doing the job correctly and with OEM parts.

Unfortunately I have seen some of these low-cost policies explicitly state that they have the right to replace with after-market parts and if you want OEM parts, you have to pay the difference. I have had very good luck with State Farm and my local body shop when it comes to this type of thing.

Its deff way low for sure, saying what their estimate didnt include that is damaged, bad part is I took photos of all the damage, outside and under. should'nt be that hard. But insurance companies low ball everything.

Had it towed to the shop yesterday, so we will see what happens now.

I have heard that sometimes you can file a claim on your insurance, they take the case over, and just sue or bill the other company.

So Now its a waiting game, here I sit with NO RENTAL yet... BS...

i would definitely be talking with your own insurance guy and see what your options are. Dealing with the other guys insurance is going to do nothing but drive you crazy.

Well, with the rear axle bent, now's the time to put in a 14-bolt semi-floater!

I have some body work experience, this fella seems to do it right:

Gotcha, two pics showing both vehicles. Thanks for clarifying. I always go through my insurance even when it’s the other parties fault. That’s why you pay your insurance company.

You can’t hide the accident from your insurance if you go through other parties policy, the information is shared on a network accessible to all insurance agencies. AAA hammered Geico for me the last time I was rear ended in our VW. AAA had it fixed according to the limits of the other party’s policy as well as providing a rental car on their dime, no $ out of pocket. No, it did not affect my rates and they were the arbitrator who saw everything was handled correctly.

I was rear ended by a drunk driver. I was in a 79 Toyota Corolla and he was in a 1966 Buick Electra. It was a tank compared to my squalid little piece of scrap metal. Which was what it was after he hit me. Ran into me several times, turned me over & upside down, hit me again and almost drove me off the viaduct. Luckily I was able to crawl out and get away from the wreckage before it went up in flames. And of course he drove off and rear ended another vehicle down the road. That vehicle was an SUV and it stopped his Electra cold. Ever since then I've driven BIG TRUCKS & SUVs. Screw the gas mileage! My safety and my family's safety is what's important. I've had BMWs, VWs & Toyotas hit my Yukon & Tahoe and my damage was minor. A few scratches that were easily repaired. Hell, the BMW that hit me had major damage to the front end. My Yukon...I was able to kick the panel and it went back into place. I took it to my mechanic and he couldn't find any problem. He thought I was pranking him! Yeah, I drive TANKS that don't get very good MPG, but me and mine will most likely walk away from the accident. Can't say that about our compact & sub compact brethren. GO YUKS!

Earl, I came to same realization after I was rear ended by a stoner while driving our family's '80 Toyota Corolla. Ruined my naval career before it ever started. I briefly forgot that lesson until I put my new to me Suzuki Samurai head on into a wall and have populated our driveway with full-size vehicles since. The lower gas mileage is the cost for safety. According to some IIHS stats, the death rate per million for my truck is ZERO!

No replacement for displacement.... If I was in this car sat morning things would have been different... Thankfully I'm not done yet and she was trailered to the show instead...

So update, here we are a few weeks later, truck still in the shop, still in a rental that "runs out" on the 6th, the mechanical issues have NOT been looked at, body shop just soaking insurance to get paid and going to farm out mech issues, probably going to be a fight the whole way.

Lost wages they are offering 3 days of lost wages, that's it, still going to physical therapy for some sprained tendons in the neck. So with all this crap I honestly feel beat down, I really did love this burb, but looks like Ill get a pile of shit back in return. I was doing well physically finally and now back to square one. Mentally beat down and sad my burb was on the line to get lowered and rims probably wont happen. Just sucks... The hood is mis aligned on front left, noticed it the other day when I dropped in, so what does that mean? something bent or wrong. So if they body work the truck, and glance over bent chassis she will never be right again ever, pisses me off to no extreme.

Talked to a buddy who has a trans shop locally, told him about what the trans was doing, he said yeah he has seen when someone gets hit from the back like this that the torque converter doesnt fair well and starts to come apart.

Real close to hiring an attorney to get my lost wages back for starters... this is a shit show...

I can't believe you have not talked to one yet. You need to get advise from one asap.

You are not asking for much other than getting your rig repaired the right way. You might even get compensated for the back injury.

Agree.

Learned a long time ago that if you think you might need an attorney, you need an attorney.

So after the run around on repairs, they glanced over the suspension and axle damage, says "nothings damaged" So I am fed up, should get it back today, so i either trade it in on a 11 esky here locally spend the extra money to get that, or buy a 13 burb with few more options for 4k less than the esky, or sell the burb outright, buy a squarebody burb and make it a cool daily. I dont have time for this BS to linger on anymore.

Decission time. I have the burb listed for 13k it should sell fast.

Esky 20k
Burb 16k
and squarebody burb 9k real nice.

Or find a shop that will stick it to them and get it fixed completely right and keep her. Tough call for sure

Going to give insurance the ultimatum today. My amount or my attorney will get you for policy limits.

Get a call. Vehicle is done. Go check it out. NOPE.

How y’all like that SLP delete location the exhaust shop bent it back to? Passenger tail light fitment is off. Solvent bubble in quarter panel repair. Tailgate you can see scratches under the paint. So they are “fixing it” supposedly. The nightmare continues.

how ya like the interior covered with sanding dust. Quality huh?
