Fuel pump suggestions

Stick with what got you here and use the AC Delco. I like to also always replace the fuel filter and the fuel pump relay. Why are you saying the pump is needed?

Any codes? Fuel pressure test? Had the cats tested for back pressure? You could have more than one problem but you have shared no other info other than a feeling.

Thanks for the advice. I didn't have a chance to test anything since the car broke down away from the house. I had it towed to a mechanic to figure out the issue. I just wanted to know the best part just in case it is that. Want a part that will last since I know that' ait is pain in the ass to replace
ACDelco is my suggestion. I wouldn’t use anything else especially since they’re not easy to replace.
OKay so it turned out it was the fuel pump. So he replaced the the pump and fuel filter. I am going to switch out the fuel pump relay and while i was at it was going to swap out the horn and the ac as well. I noticed all those relays had the same number on them. Does that mean I just order this one for all of them?

@Rocket Man, he is likely doing as I recommended on the fuel pump relay. I always recommend replacing the fuel pump relay with a new fuel pump. It is a habit that I picked up in my shops when I had a vehicle in with low power and was a fuel pump and then was towed in a week later with no power to fuel pump and the fuel pump relay fixed it. I just decided then to always recommend that relay going forward. I never said they had to, it was just a recommendation.
I have never had a problem with the relays so I was wondering. Replaced two fuel pumps in the last 2 years, the relays are fine. Never heard of them being an issue. They either work or don’t.
Yea, I agree and that is why that relay was not replaced when my shop did the fuel pump. But it is inexpensive and most times no additional labor on the repair ticket and I offered and never made them buy it but at that point I was trying to cover for the tow back fee that I gladly paid for when that vehicle was towed back in. I made the customer happy and kept them as a customer moving forward. They did pay the fee for the relay but no further diagnostic fee and no additional labor. It's just at that point forward, I always recommended the relay.
I’ve never had one fail. But in the rare case one ever did, say the fuel pump relay quit, I can swap my horn relay in. Or my fog light relay. So you actually do have spares available. There’s several that are the same, and the only necessary one is the fuel pump relay. But they’re not like fuses- they don’t blow if there’s a short. A fuse supplying power to the relay will blow. I mean, if it makes you feel better then by all means replace them. But there’s really no need.
