I believe that it comes down personal choice on your head unit selection. My guess is that if you peeled back the onion layers, you'd find very similar basic electronic components in both brands.

My family has 4 Kenwood head units, and we are all happy with them. The Maestro interface units work as they are supposed to, in order to maintain steering wheel controls.

Good luck on your final head unit selection.

I have always been a Kenwood fan but I newer radio (can't remember the model number offhand) for my work car and I am not pleased. The user interface is very generic and the Android Auto always disconnects. I am not sure if the wireless is better, I have only the wired option, but it isn't the Kenwood I remember. I will likely try a different brand in the future.
When I first got the kenwood in the 04 this happened a few times. Where the wired Apple CarPlay would disconnect for no reason. I brought it back to the shop that installed it and they updated the firmware. This fixed the disconnect issue at least for me.

I’ve seen this. It actually looks pretty good. Always wondered how it worked. You like it ? How’s the picture quality?

I'll get you some pics when I go to lunch. I bought this one a year ago, it had a push clip on it so you just drilled the hole and it snapped into it. I looks like they updated it and it has a threaded stud now which make it a tad more difficult to install but I would still rock it.

I have a Kenwood DMX906S with wireless android auto and carplay. I have never used the wireless carplay, however the wireless android auto has been great. I have never had a touchscreen Pioneer, only Kenwoods so it is hard for me to compare.

All the guys running the iDatalink Maestro RR. Does the car specific stuff like reading error codes , seeing battery voltage , tire pressure etc work well ? Or is it buggy.

works fine, the only bug I found which they may have a workaround for it by now is if I have the RR set to keep the deck powered during vehicle ignition then it can make the bose amp not power back on the fix is to just not use that feature. the bose amp is powered separate from the rr so it looses the digital turn on signal when keying the ignition if the deck is kept powered up.

I have been using the pioneer nex series 4000, 8000, 8100, 8200, 8200w they all work fine, kenwood is supposed to release there wireless 10" screen decks anytime now but they just haven't dropped yet I want to put one in the Silverado since there is plenty of room for it

Everything works fine with my Kenwood.
The installer is encouraging me not to use the RR. Says the car specific stuff lags and is unreliable. Apparently there is another way for me to keep the steering wheel control functionality and rear entertainment etc.

the maestro works fine if I get a check engine light it shows the code on the radio, if I drive away and a door is open it comes up on the radio, same for low tire pressure, supports the bose dsp surround sound and gives me fade on the bose which I think the meastro is the only module that does that.
