Good morning -

I am planning to put 22"s (in silver tone) on my Yukon Denali when I rotate off my current tires wearing the factory 20" rims, probably some time in the spring.

From the reading I've done on the topic, it looks like gravity cast wheels are to be avoided. Unfortunately the Discount Tire site doesn't allow me to filter by manufacturing process, but from doing some research I've been able to narrow it down to some options:

https://www.discounttire.com/buy-wheels/kmc-km707-channel

https://www.discounttire.com/buy-wheels/black-rhino-mozambique

https://www.tirerack.com/wheels/res...el=Yukon+4WD&autoYear=2017&autoModClar=Denali

https://www.carid.com/dub-wheels/s213-8-ball-brushed-silver-238049379.html

https://www.carid.com/oe-creations-wheels/166-hyper-silver-505514308.html

My question is, are there any concerns with quality or durability in looking at these options from KMC, Dub, Black Rhino and OE Creations? Would love some input as I continue to evaluate my options and what makes the most sense.

Thanks!

Lon

I replace the wheels, tires and exhaust on everything I own to start with, have used many wheels thru the years, and while forged wheels are expensive, so are the cars and trucks of today, for me the last 5 years my wheels have all been Forgeline, and not a single wheel problem on the street or track.

I like 1, 2, 4. My belief is that the 22" wheels are too heavy if steel, so always recommend alloy and stay on the lighter side if possible. Both handling and ride quality will be better with reduced unsprung weight.
Agreed. My chromed steel 22's were super heavy.

I would love to hear some more feedback on different brands of wheels and overall durability, especially in areas where guys have to deal with winter with the dreaded salt or anti ice agents!!!

I ran American Racing 20” AR899’s on my 2007 and for 140K and then put them on my 2008 for another 20K for a total of 160K and they held up great and were exposed to Iowa winter roads.

I have Raceline Wheels on my Tahoe and American racing for the wifes Yukon, but I have winter and summer wheels and tires, no way would I run custom wheels in the winter here in Michigan. If you leave in a winter state I always recommend having 2 sets of wheels and tires, plus you get a lot more life out of the tires

I've always wondered if those "factory replicas" were worth anything??? I"m guessing living in the Chicago area the winter streets can get pretty nasty with salts and de-icers, which in turn can reek havoc on wheel finishes!!

stay away from Black Rhino wheels
they are made in china w/ really cheap materials

Aren't all of them made in China, including GMC OEM stuff? What's different about the Black Rhinos vs. the others?

You can usually tell the quality by the warranty they carry. Most have 1 year finish and structure warranties... I sell OEM replicas that carry a 2 year finish warranty and a lifetime structure warranty.

Wow, looking at the difference in warranties really is eye opening. The KMCs "lifetime" protection is strictly around structural failure but has all sorts of finish exemptions after 1 year, and polished finishes have NO warranty...whereas the REPLACE wheels that CarID carries have "defects in materials and workmanship" protection. Really good to know. Keep the info coming!

24" 2Crave #47s on my Burb. I returned a set of KMCs cause they didn't fit properly with the offset - they were hitting my sway bar on lock to lock. I say stay away from the KMCs unless you are going 8" wide 20's at the most. I still think the 31mm offset wont be enough even though its only off by 1 mm vs the factory wheel (30mm offset). The 2Craves offered a different offset for clearance. They only rub the fender wells cause I went with an oversized tire. But the available offsets they provided pushed the wheel out far enough that it wouldn't rub and mechanical parts or frame and they don't stick out of the wheel well so much that is looks all hillbilly.

Truck came with the factory 18" wheels and whatever tires. They weighed 64lbs. The 2Craves with Falken tires are 90lbs. I didnt think 24lbs was that much of a difference considering it was a 6" difference in diameter and another 2.5" in width. The Dubs I was considering (I think Futures?) were lighter by about 10lbs a wheel but they didn't have the look I was going for.

I have 18" OEM replicas on my Trans Am (C5 ZO6 replicas) They are 15 years old and mostly sit in a garagebut there is very little pitting on them.

i have mentioned it here & there to stay away from the wheels.
it sucks that callaway chose to keep them as a vendor. the dealer i use had other hoes w/ same issue.
that is why i ordered some forgeline rims & just stored the orig ones in garage.
