Nice. Wish I could afford it! Weird that it has a vin. As a one off, or experimental, you'd think GM would do without the vin. Probably could drive it on a dealer's plate. I would

That it is an experimental vehicle, not for use on public roads. Cadillac Escalade Luxury, AWD and L92 motor, built in Arlington, Texas.

But I'm guessing GM most likely pulled this Esky out of their stock or assembly line to modify it. Just like they did eith the GNX. I know you're familiar with those James . The Fortunate Few.

Maybe not, the VIN suggests that this was a pre-production truck but I do not know how they go about assigning VIN numbers. The GNXs were pulled from the production line and had no special VIN designating them as a GNX, they were just Regals with the Grand National trim. Prior to '87, the all of the '84-'86 GNs were T-Types with the GN package according to their VINs.

It definitely has some 10-year-old styling cues with the "body kit"-esque rear bumper and ebay-ish tail lights.

I say a bunch of us pool our play money together, buy it, then divvy up the parts. I call dibs on the engine, trans, shifter and console and seats.

Meh. Somebody with an '07 Escalade that doesn't live in a repressive state buy it, swap the VIN plates and stickers and go have fun. In Louisiana, some restrictions are lifted on vehicles over 10 years old. Odometer can be exempt and a reconstructed title can more easily be "washed clean". I'm sure there are loopholes where an altered VIN plate can be slipped through. Alabama is even more lax. You practically can trade vehicles by signing a Bill of Sale and giving a firm handshake with eye contact to make it official.

Probably hasn't been crash certified--or for emissions.

Because it's a pre-production or experimental vehicle. Note the VIN ending in EX. I'm surprised it wasn't crushed. Whomever bought it from GM must have been friends with someone.

Who's going to notice it's an off-road vehicle?
IMO , a vin # means it can be registered. (?) Or no vin would be attached.

Back in the late '70's in Sonoma, Calif., ( Bondurant Racing School) we had to crush 25 Datsun 240Z's due to no vins.... Some could be sold that would only be raced due to no vins.

But the few others, Datsun gave us 240's with vins ( non public production ) .. Could be registered.

( We secured sponsorship for the Ford Mustang as cars at the school)

Just because a vehicle has a vin it doesn't mean it can be registered.

A lot of track only race cars have VINs, and there's no way to register them.

It's only illegal if you get caught, but that Escalade isn't worth that. Part it out.

If you know what a 1966 Lola T70 Mk 3B is,...... Back in 1975, a neighbor brought from England, one of very few 'street-version' Lolas. It was a full race car, with little bulbs in the headlight housing and behind, working turn signals. Mufflers.... He could not register it for the street.
So he bought an American made Kit Car version & used the vin for the real car.

We went 160 mph on the 101 freeway.....
