I was surfing around and found a Caddy page where the guy said he replaced his 880 fogs with 893's. The 880 is 27 watts and the 893's are 37.5. I know a 50 watt bulb is too hot for these plastic housings but would it handle the 37.5 watts? It sounded like they had the same base.

you might be surprised what an additional 10 watts can do. If you do decide to go that route i would recommend some high voltage upgrade wire harness. You may find your fogs blowing unusually quick without them

Even though the actual voltage going down the wire is still the same? So what do you replace, the whole wire harness back as far as what?

Thanks for the feedback

The upgraded wire harness plugs into your existing wireharness then into your fog light bulb. Don't ask ask the specifics of how it works, I am not sure. They are fairly inexpensive and comes in different brands. Just google 880 bulb wire harness. I forgot where i bought mine from but it was like $28. Probably not the cheapest

Not to hijack or anything, but I've got 55w HID's with stock wiring in mine. No melting or heat issues after about 4 months of pretty heavy use (it's dark a lot in Alaska in the winter).

They are also the DDM Raptor kit, which is cheaper then buying yourself just replacement bulbs in a lot cases.
