the other problem that people have is over assisted steering. The power steering assist is variable and if your sensor is bad it defaults to full power all the time IIRC. this can make it feel a little twitchy on the highway.
Mine drives awesome. Perfect. Not twitchy. Doesn’t wander. Doesn’t need a new steering box. That’s what I was saying.

You know my old one was twitchy and loose .. but I would like to know if the variable is in the pump or in the steering gear. I have a pump on order . [emoji106]

Started on the grille. I separated the chrome from the black part of the grille , easier for prep and paint. Got 2 of the 3 chrome pieces painted. One left to go and the reassemble the grille. Next will be the stock rear vent caps. Then bumpers , on the look out for a Denali rear bumper. Not sure what I want to do about the front one. Strongly leaning towards doing a 03-07 Sierra front conversion. Color is dark spiral grey code 805k

I’m still on the original box and pump with 271k miles [emoji2373][emoji2373]
Might surprise ya $160 tighten old girl right back up . Long as its all greased along the way .. I got eye on hoping mine goes that kinda miles.. mine I think the real reason it leaked from when truck was built . Because cross member it drips on has no rust on it and it's shiny Steel My Yukon XL lived in New York and Minnesota salt belt .. the Idea there was no rust means it had to have a drop it's whole life.
This right here was what was holding me up from buying it because I worried brake boost would have issues being run low at random times. But a price adjustment fixed my worries ..[emoji106]

Steering is still tight. Pump is just starting to make noise and I still have the original ball joints too which is surprising

That would also. Have to make do with what we have to at times.

Oh i understand. I would definitely recommend adjustment of the stock box and replacement of all the steering components before attempting to replace the box. Then its probably worth getting one of the upgraded boxes since usually the stock replacements suck.
